GamersFirst acquired Fallen Earth earlier this month and announced in their first Fallen Earth dev blog that a new free-to-play model is in development for the game. This week the second Fallen Earth blog has been posted with Senior Designer Marie Croal, who outlines the development roadmap for Fallen Earth and offers a look at future development plans under GamersFirst.

The Alpha County update is arriving a little later than expected with a targeted July 6th release date, but the delayed time comes with extra polish courtesy of GamersFirst and the Fallen Earth team chose to take full advantage of their new resources to ensure the update is ready.

First things first - I know everyone has been eagerly awaiting the release of Alpha County, the combat changes and Progress Towns. Right now, we’re targeting a release date of July 6th. I know this is later than the intended Q2 release date, however GamersFirst has given us the resources for additional testing and polish so we wanted to take full advantage of that.

The dev blog also notes that the team has a full development schedule lined up from summer through fall and their next focus will be on player socialization and their ability to move through the world. A little further down the road players can expect to see some new dynamic content additions and world events.
