Final Fantasy XIV launches its first major update since its rebirth to add the Crystal Tower raid, new dungeons, and more.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (FFXIV) was updated to 2.1: A Realm Awoken earlier today. The first major update to the game since its official relaunch back in August adds the new 24-player Crystal Tower raid, several new dungeons, new “extreme battles” for Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan, the Trial of Thornmarch, the Wolves’ Den PvP arena, the aesthetician to change a character’s appearance, new housing options, and plenty of other content probably worthy of being called a full blown expansion.

In addition to the launch of 2.1, FFXIV Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida penned a new message to the community to discuss the current state of the FFXIV economy and the current and future prices of housing. You can read that message along with the official 2.1 patch notes for a full rundown on the latest content.
