Guild Wars 2 welcomed members of the media to its first huge beta event last weekend and Lead Designer Eric Flannum has rounded up a few devs and posted an update on the games development. The latest developer blog serves up details about plenty of Guild Wars 2s game mechanics and a number of changes that include details on the death mechanic, the in-game compass, boons and conditions, meta-events and hidden treasures.
As weve been working on the dynamic-event system and building out the content for Guild Wars 2, weve come to the realization that the only thing cooler than a series of dynamic events is a series of dynamic events that come together to tell the story of an area. It was through brainstorming that we gave birth to this concept of meta-events. Meta-events are all about immersing the player in the story of an area in a way that incorporates standard events and helps to make the world feel even more alive.
