ArenaNet’s biweekly cadence for Guild Wars 2 (GW2) updates continues next week as the third update for October arrives just in time for Halloween with the Tower of Nightmares. The new update will offer players a chance to obtain a new Antitoxin Spray healing skill capable of healing allies of various negative effects. Players can earn the skill by defeating the krait and completing the Tower of Nightmares instance, a new part of GW2's Living Story.

"Some new trouble is growing in Kessex Hills. Carefully hidden by magic, the krait have been working tirelessly on a terror unlike anything seen before in Tyria. Marjory Delaqua and Kasmeer Meade are investigating the illusory curtain that’s cloaking part of Viathan Lake, and they need your help! What secret lies behind the veil?"

Additionally, players will also earn a Krait Obelisk Shard, which can be placed in their home instance to charge Quartz Crystals and earn a skill point.

ArenaNet devs will be livestreaming a preview of the update on Monday, October 28th, 2013 at 12pm PT. In the meantime, you can check out the Tower of Nightmares page and trailer below for a peek.

Players face their demons in third content update in October

BELLEVUE, Wash. – Oct. 22, 2013: ArenaNet, developer of the acclaimed Guild Wars franchise, today announced Tower of Nightmares, a terrifying new Guild Wars 2 content update that will go live in the popular online role-playing game on Oct. 29. This chilling release – the third game update this month – comes just in time for Halloween.

In Tower of Nightmares, players will find new trouble brewing in the ever-changing world of Tyria –a menace with dark ties to previous storylines. Working in secret, the sinister reptilian krait have created the Tower of Nightmares, a weapon unlike anything ever seen in Tyria. Players will join forces to discover the secret to attacking the Tower and uncover clues as to the identity of the krait’s mysterious new ally…

Tower of Nightmares isn’t just about menace and the macabre; this release also introduces new rewards like the Antitoxin Spray, a new universal healing skill that allows any player to cleanse themselves and nearby allies of poison, toxins, and other nasty effects. Players who prevail against the krait and complete the Tower of Nightmares meta achievement will earn a Krait Obelisk Shard, a powerful artifact that players can erect in their home instance.

Players can get an early look at the release by joining a preview livestream with ArenaNet developers on Monday, Oct. 28, at noon (PDT) on the Guild Wars 2 Twitch channel at http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2.

Players can enjoy the Halloween-themed content from Blood and Madness, the previous game update, through Nov. 11.
