Guild Wars 2 is finally arriving in the modern age and implementing a streaming client. If you don’t know what that means, it’s basically what World of Warcraft has been doing for years. From a fresh download, you can play the game when it reaches a certain point and in the background it’ll work its magic and download the rest. It’s awesome if you’ve a slow internet connection or can’t possibly wait a few hours. If that wasn’t good enough, there’s also a new option menu for download caps for those who can’t download more than a few gigabytes a month, while new players experience a seamless game through character creation, the tutorial instance, and any of the five level 1–15 starting zones.

"To try out content streaming, add -StreamingClient to the end of the target line on yourGuild Wars 2 shortcut. When you next launch and patch the game, there will be a marker on the progress bar that shows you how much you’ll need to download before the game will be playable. Once the progress bar reaches that marker, you’ll be able to jump right in and start playing."

How does this technology work? Well, what ArenaNet have done is hired a couple of elite hamsters and designed some special wheels. When these ninja hamsters jump on the wheels, they cause enough electromagnetic energy to power Guild Wars 2, even when it hasn’t finished downloading.
