While much of the gaming world is scrambling to sort out ways to maximize profits through the holidays via Black Friday and other assorted promotions, ArenaNet is taking an altogether different track. Beginning on Friday, November 27, ArenaNet will make two gem store items for free each day this weekend.

To claim your free gem store items all you’ll need to do is log into Guild Wars 2 this weekend and check the store. The items being offered each day haven’t been announced yet, but fans are being encouraged to check the official GW2 Twitter account where it is said you will find news regarding the free items throughout the weekend. If you’re not already following Guild Wars 2 on Twitter, you can do so here.

Chances are there is in fact a marketing angle behind the freebies – one surefire way to get people to spend money in your store is to get them in the door with free stuff – but it is still very commendable of the team at ArenaNet to offer up a worthy thanks to its many fans either way.
