Do you play any of Frogster's MMORPGs like Runes of Magic? If so, you might want to update your security details and give those accounts a second look. According to Kotaku, a player recently hacked the game's database and reportedly gained access to more than 3.5 million accounts and user details for a number of Frogster's games. The number of alleged compromised accounts is posted in a YouTube message that Kotaku discovered from the cyber attacker.

style="font-style: italic;">Someone slipped past Frogster's security.

Kotaku captured an image of the user in question's post (augustus87) before it was quickly deleted from the Frogster forums in which he made several demands to Frogster. While there were several demands made, a few included easing up on forum restrictions and deletions, better treatment of Frogster employees worldwide, better game security and several others.

If the demands are not met in two weeks, augustus87 has threatened to release account details in increasing numbers daily on Frogster's website from several of the publisher's titles, including Runes of Magic and Bounty Bay Online. The hacker also claims to have compromised almost every system and threatens to shut down the game servers if demands are not met.

A post from Frogster Community Manager Mike “Silberfuchs” Kiefer acknowledges the attack and confirms that approximately 2,100 account login details were posted on Frogster's message board, but the posts have since been removed and saved as evidence in what Frogster calls a "serious criminal offence". The publisher has also informed the German law enforcement and put together a task force to investigate the incident.

Frogster's statement goes on to note that the details released were outdated login data from 2007, but Frogster has blocked access to the accounts for player protection. All the same, you might want to give those accounts a look and update your security details just to be safe.
