If you were keeping watch on Reddit last week, you probably already picked up on a few juicy tidbits revealed by SOE boss John Smedley during his multi-hour Ask Me Anything (AMA) session. Aside from the fact that Smed confirmed that EverQuest Next will indeed be headed to the PlayStation 4 and that it will also have a music system for aspiring musicians, it was his teasing of the studio’s next mysterious project that has been drawing a lot of discussion as of late.

During the AMA, Smed hinted that the studio’s next project would be something that Star Wars Galaxies (SWG) fans would enjoy, and that those players could finally come home. Naturally that comment coupled with Smed’s discussion about how he would do everything with the SWG launch differently if he had it to do over again, and an image that someone posted of the SWG trademark being renewed, speculation ran amuck that the game just might be making a comeback.

As I hate to be the bearer of bad news, that is simply just not the case. In fact, the new project isn't Star Wars related at all. Smed took to Twitter today to clarify his statement but not to offer anything new, sadly.

So for now whatever that game may be remains a mystery. We'll just have to wait until Mr. Smedley is feeling that urge to tease us again to find out more.
