Jumpgate Evolution has been on silent run for a while, but Executive Producer Lance Robertson recently broke that silence to speak with the community about the state of the space-based MMOG. Robertson notes that the original goal of Jumpgate Evolution was to update the original Jumpgate for a modern audience. Unfortunately, the team soon learned through their Friends and Family testing phase that things were not going to go according to plan, prompting NetDevil to invest more into the game and give it a complete overhaul. After this decision was made, NetDevil went dark leading to the long absence of information about the game. Robertson goes on to explain that the game players might have been expecting is not quite the game the developer will deliver.

I’m going to be honest with you and tell you something that may be difficult to hear: what you saw and heard of Jumpgate Evolution before now may have little bearing on the actual game we're going to deliver. When we went into that dark period to redesign much of the game, much was thrown away and new needs came to light, but we ultimately ended up with a much clearer vision of what we want Jumpgate Evolution to be, as well as the path to get there.

All that being said, NetDevil is about ready to start showing off the new Jumpgate Evolution. They will be hosting a demo booth at E3 2010, so stay tuned for more details.
