We've been teased and hyped with character previews and gameplay snippets for the past year without even knowing when the beta test would be starting. All that came to an end today when Blizzard finally announced that the beta would be opening in two weeks on Tuesday October 27th to a "small" number of players.

The beta itself does not currently have an end date, but if it's anything like other betas players should get at least several weeks hands on time with the game. Once inside they'll be able to play as one of 18 heroes across seven different maps.

Support for voice chat as well as kill cams will also make an appearance, along with spectator mode for those who wish to watch rather than play.

There will also be several stress test weekends during the overaching beta release, so even if you don't get in to the general beta, keep your eyes peeled for a weekend invite.

If you haven't registered yet, you can do so on the Overwatch official registration page.
