If you’ve been waiting for a chance to try the action RPG Path of Exile, the wait is about over. Open beta is set to get underway later today and Grinding Gear Games has laid out transition plans for open beta and what to expect. In short, the final character wipe will take place prior to the start of open beta, the closed beta client can be patched with the open beta build, and logging in before the servers are up will put you in queue to be logged in once they’re ready.

You can view the open beta patch notes here. Additional details about balance and how microtransactions will work are also available on the Path of Exile website.

The Path of Exile open beta is scheduled to begin in just over 7 hours as of this writing.
