Perfect World acquired Star Trek Online (STO) developer Cryptic Studios in August and shortly after it was announced that the game would adopt a free-to-play model by the end of 2011. But another big change hits the game today with the announcement that STO Executive Producer Dan Stahl will be leaving Cryptic at the end of this month.

In his letter to the community, Stahl thanks fans for their support and explains that the decision to leave was his and hopes that the fans will continue to support STO and Cryptic. Taking Stahl’s place will be Cryptic CTO and former STO Lead Programmer Stephen D’Angelo.

You can read Stahl’s full letter on the STO website.
