  • Sensory Cues in Darkfall

    Posted on the official site for DarkFall is an introduction for a feature story at RPGVault.com.

    There's no radar in Darkfall. There are no floating nametags over player's heads. You won't be able to see bleeps on the mini-map that will alert you to the presence of other players and monsters. You must rely on your senses and stay alert, rather than letting your user interface do it for you.

    This opens the door to a number of very interesting and unique gameplay possibilities, which are supported by a number of sensory cues, some of which we discuss in our weekly RPG Vault feature.

    Sounds interesting to me! Head over and read the article then share your thoughts in our forums. Stay tuned for more updates on DarkFall and all your favorite MMOs here at Ten Ton Hammer.

  • Server Merge Updates

    Auto Assault has posted several items on the official site to help you navigate through the server merges that are happening today. Keep reading to see what you may need to do.

    Character Transfers
    Auto Assault has posted a walkthrough to help you get your character over to the newly merged server, Nexus.

    Character Name Correction

    Previously we noted in the Server Merge FAQ that if a transferred character's name collides when you transfer it, you will receive an email regarding what you can do to change the name. Now however we have made it so that you will be able to simply change the character's name in the character selection screen in-game rather than externally.

  • Creatures of Middle-earth: Neekerbreekers

    On the official Lord of the Rings Online site, we are given a look at some of the creatures that will inhabit Middle-earth. Today, we are given a glimpse at Neekerbreekers.

    Throughout Middle-earth there are many forms of insect; some mere annoyances, others more dangerous, and some that are a mystery rarely, if ever, seen. Neekerbreekers once fell into the last category. For ages, they were merely a distracting noise in the dark corners of the Midgewater Marshes, but recently a shadow has passed through Bree-land, and they have become more aggressive and begun to swarm.

    Learn more about Neekerbreekers and see what they look like. What do you think of this creature? Let us know at LOTRO Ten Ton Hammer.

  • Blizzard unveils the first details of its upcoming player-versus-player enhancements.

    IGN posted an article with all the details and a few screenshots on this upcoming update to World of Warcraft.

    But the big news today is the scoop on world PvP objectives. Whereas before it usually boiled down to getting "wtfpwned" by roving bands of level 60 characters in Stranglethorn Vale, Hillsbrad Foothills and other areas where the victims couldn't possibly be a threat to their assailants, the new world PvP content will take place in Silithus and Eastern Plaguelands, although it may eventually branch out to other areas. Silithus and EPL are the highest-level zones in the game right now anyway (Deadwind Pass is too small to count, really), so it will generally be level 55-60 players bashing away at each other.

    Keep reading to see how you may soon be able to join in the World PvP! Check back to WoW Ten Ton Hammer for all the latest updates and news.

  • Summer Plans Revealed

    John Scott Tynes, Producer of Pirates of the Burning Sea, adds an entry to the dev journal at MMORPG.com.

    ConCo, our content creation team, is busy working on missions for ranks 16-30. New missions and characters are going in all the time and it’s great stuff. We recently added the ability for NPCs to react to a player emote, so that if you use “/emote bow” before a noble we can have him acknowledge your action.

    Read the entire entry and then let us know what you think in our forums. Stay tuned to Ten Ton Hammer for all the latest news on Pirates of the Burning Sea and all your favorite MMOs.

  • New Site Features

    Here's the news straight from Xavier Antoviaque:

    We have just updated Ryzom.com with a few additional fixes, improved the comments presentation and added a draft portlet.

    * New:
    o Official comments (from Nevrax or CS staff) are now displayed differently than the others, to let you find them more quickly;
    o The poster full name (configured in the personal preferences) is now displayed instead of the login name in the comments;
    o A new portlet now appears on the right column when you are logged, containing all the draft documents you have created on the website.

    * Bugfixes:
    o Added missing translations;
    o Fixed an issue with the news RSS feed - sometimes, it wasn't displaying the correct language;
    o The news email alerts were not sent, this should now be fixed;
    o Confirmation emails sent when registering to the newsletter or to the email alert are now sent in the right language - previously, they were all sent in English;
    o Fixed a security issue with unpublished news - if somebody happened to know the right URL, he was able to see the news before the publication time;
    o Fixed a few W3C validation errors in the XHTML code.

    Head over and check out the changes!

    EverQuest The Serpent’s Spine features the following:

    * New Player Race: The Drakkin have been created from both human and dragon blood to protect the future of all dragon kind. Several colors and customizations will be available to make each Drakkin character unique, such as elegant scale markings and horns.
    *Level Cap Increase: Players can now reach level 75, complete with new spells, abilities, raids and quests for greater power.
    * Content for Levels 1 to 75: Play through every level of the game without ever leaving the Serpent Spine Mountains.
