Xbox Reveal Event Coverage

News

  • Thank God! Finally! Someone thought to do this the right way. You would not believe how many times I've had to wait to get my pre-order because I was idiotic enough to buy it online instead of going into a store to get it.

We have extended preorder access to Dungeons & Dragons Online™: Stormreach™ (DDO) through March 5th in order to help address the concerns of players who have told us they may not be able to get a copy of the retail box for DDO right away. Players who have created an account using their preorder bonus key will continue to have access to DDO through Sunday, March 5th. We expect most retail stores to have DDO boxes available on or before this time.

Starting on Monday, March 6th, players will need to redeem a retail key at https://billing.turbine.com in order to continue playing. Players who are unable to obtain a retail key before March 6th won’t lose their account information or characters and will be able to play those characters once they enter a retail key.

As a reminder, the opportunity to earn the Head Start Event founders helmet and founder status ends at 8:00am EST on February 28th. So be sure to log in and get your guilds set up!

It's no longer a race to see who gets in first, etc, etc.

  • Looks like a little mini dev journal here. What it is though is a list of what the current priorities are for the Dark and Light dev team.

    Current development priorities:

    Craft :

    # The lists of ingredients for recipes are being finalized,
    # Workshops are being built in every kingdom.
    The land:

    # Balancing of the zoning in Ganareth in order to organize the domains into a leveled hierarchy.
    # Creation of three key maps to make living in Ganareth easier:
    # a player density map that will allow you to locate the populated zones easily,
    # a political map of kingdoms, duchies, counties and baronies to allow people to identify the alignment of every domain,
    # a map of the mana towers’ influences, for a better knowledge of the zones of influence of every tower.
Placement of new cities in the kingdoms opened in Dark and Light (the Dark and the Light kingdoms, amongst others).

  • Someone queue up the 70's bomp chickee bomp bomp music for me.

Utah's House voted overwhelmingly to "yank violent video games out of the hands of minors and punish as felons adults who provide such entertainment to children. " The Salt Lake Tribune is reporting that "HB257, which passed 56-8, would add extremely violent "interactive video or electronic" games to the state's statute protecting minors from harmful material; the statute is commonly used to prosecute those who provide pornography to children. "

In effect this means that the Utah State Legislature is treating violent videogames as porn. If you are caught providing a violent videogame to a child then you will be charged with a felony.

The big question.. What constitutes as a violent videogame? My son likes playing Batman. He has to beat up the bad guys to get to the end game. Is that violent? He plays Call of Duty, a re-creation of WWII. Is that violent? We play WoW together where he gets kill quests. Am I little more than a pornographer because I allow my child to play games with me? Am I pissed about this? Yes I am. Expect a scathing editorial to come.

  • There is nothing I can say about this game that won't make me seem like a bigger geek than I already am. Do I watch the series every week? You bet I do. Am I looking forward to this game with an intensity that outshines even the brightest of headlights? Yup. So, You can imagine the level of excitement when I got the transcripts of the Stargate Worlds Press Junket.

The transcript in it's entirety is somewhere around 50 pages long. It's condensed but if you want to get to the details you can find it here

  • Something wicked this way comes.. Oh wait no. It's just a slimey fish.

They're saying that Murlocs are a mystery. I say nay. I've killed many, they're pretty common. However (draw out that r because it's mystery time) looks like something big scary and gritty is on it's way into an Azeroth near you. Read More about it.

Several indicators from the murlocs themselves point to the possibility that the fish-men are but worshippers or underlings of perhaps several deep-sea monstrosities that currently lie sleeping, or at least waiting, in the murky fathoms – and even more disturbing, that the murlocs' emergence is an indication of their incipient awakening.

If that is the case, the mysterious and somewhat underestimated murlocs may be the world's first glimpse at something far more terrifying.

Really.. I'm scared. God only knows what it could be? I'm envisioning something akin to Rosie O'donnell on a five day donut binge. *shudder*
