  • Monster Profile: the Blue Dragon

On the official site for Dungeons and Dragons Online we are given a look at the Blue Dragon.

I have been in the company of dragon slayers. And while I might regale you with heroic tales of a grand victory over a malicious black wyrm, I honestly believe that a more sobering story will be more instructive. My first encounter with a dragon is something I will never forget.

  • Arena.net finally makes an MMORPG...

After being so careful to label Guild Wars a "CORPG" (competitive online role-playing game, touted by A.net in multiple interviews as a new genre), it looks as if Guild Wars 2 will be something a little more familiar to MMO players.

The rumors are true. In the May 2007 issue of PCGamer, the cover story indicates that the sequel will have the free-to-play business model, an emphasis on solo / casual play, automated companions, and pervasive PvP play that were the hallmark of Guild Wars. GW2 will, however, boast more persistent (non-instanced) areas, event chains (area based quests a lot like the "public quests" being hashed out for Warhammer Online), a less constrained PvP system, and a built-from-scratch graphics engine.

To learn (and see!) more, you'll have to pick up May's PCGamer magazine at a local newsstand, as info on the new game seems to be slow to come online.

  • Beta Player Journal

The official site for Lord of the Rings Online has been updated with the weekly beta player journal. This entry talks about traits.

Virtues represent the honor, respect, courage, and fame that you gain while completing various tasks throughout Middle-earth. The idea is that when you perform heroic deeds, you become a more capable individual because of them. Reducing fear, healing more swiftly from open wounds, and bolstering your ability to deliver the proper strike when necessary are some examples of benefits of virtues that result from your encounters and actions.
