  • Age of Reckoning Conference Call

GamersInfo.net recently had a chance to talk to the makers of Warhammer Online via a conference call. Keep reading to see what they were able to learn...

Speaking of Realm versus Realm combat, “open field” combat will not be the primary way of winning points to help secure zones and objectives for your realm, “open field” being defined as simply side versus side combat with no fixed scenarios (much like the frontiers in Dark Age of Camelot, or certain zones in World of Warcraft). They do expect open field combat to be very popular, though, as people seem to enjoy it quite a bit.

  • Dev Diary: Wilderness Quests

The official site for Dungeons and Dragons Online has been updated with a new developer diary. This one gives us a peek at things to come in Module 4.

Prior to launching DDO we really focused on building great dungeons and I’m very happy with how the dungeons turned out. However, this left the wilderness areas of Xen’drik less well developed. A few months back, I set out to build a new, better kind of quest model for our outdoor areas.

Get clicking to find out how they plan to improve the wilderness!

  • Class Preview - Herald of Xotli

The official site for Age of Conan was updated Friday with a new class preview. This time we get a look at the Herald of Xotli.

Some of those who meddle in the demonic arts are either too weak-minded or venture too far down the path of demonology to remain untainted for long. The Heralds are those who with an insatiable lust for power regardless of the cost have bargained with the demon god Xotli and paid the ultimate price.

  • More Media From the WAR Surge
Some more information has filtered out about Warhammer Online from a write-up on MMORPG.com. Probably most interesting were the tidbits about the new Marauder class. This DPS fighter will actually feature Chaos Mutations, something many tabletop Warhammer players are familiar with. Anyway, here's a bit of that section:

From what the guys said, some of these mutations will be temporary. The player will be able to option mutations to attach with. If you have seen the concept art, you'll know that the Marauder can shape their arms into claws, tentacles, clubs, and general Chaos craziness.

Don't we all love tentacles. Read the rest here.

  • I Wonder What Happens When They Hit 2.0?
Mythic has released a new patch onto their Pedragon test server. Here are some juicy details:

In this version we plan on focusing significantly on revamping the archery system. The team is currently in the internal implementation phase for the archery revamp, but it is not yet ready for Pendragon testing. The new archery system will be rolled to Pendragon in the next few 1.88 versions.

Back in the day, archers were one of the first classes to get revamped. And now, they have come full circle.

  • Putting Flesh on the Bones.
In their latest Development Uplink, the developers behind PlanetSide descrbied how they were "fleshing out the details" of Combat Engineering.

Currently the team is flipping through the lists and checking them twice for the Offensive Combat Engineering (Offensive? Shouldn't we come up with something better?...more on that later) and it's getting close to being complete. The art models are complete for the most part but we're hashing out the functionality a bit more.

  • Scriberly Scribbles
The Guild Wars scribe is at it again, writing his thoughts on the upcoming Canthan New Year's Festibal and acknowledging a few kind citizens he met as he shuffles back to Shing Jea Monastery.

Attendees will certainly not want for ways to fend off boredom. For those seeking council of things yet to pass, a fortune teller in town shall use knowledge of celestial signs and symbols to reveal hidden secrets. I also expect to see many citizens tarrying at the rollerbeetle racing arena, home of arguably the most exciting sport in all of Cantha.
