  • When The Sky's The Limit
    MMORPG.com has an
interesting interview for you today. They sat with the CEO of Colossal
    Studios,
    James "dormantdemon" Moffet:

Today we have a unique interview with James Moffet, the CEO and Executive
Producer of Colossal Studios. Colossal produces content, including 3D, for many
sources, but primarily - to date - MMORPGs. The company is made up largely of
former employees of Mutable Realms, which developed the cancelled MMORPG Wish.

MMORPG.com: Let us begin with an introduction to who you are, your company
    and what you do.

James Moffet: To the gaming world, I was the producer of the “Wish”
MMORPG; one of many highly publicized, yet now defunct MMORPG efforts that
have risen and summarily died over the last several years.
Colossal Studios is a company that I formed out of the ashes of “Wish”
to provide Over-the-Top 3D content, guidance to other MMO developers based
on our experience, a vehicle for selling the “Wish” assets, and
    to develop game related software.
The team is primarily comprised of former members from the “Wish”
production staff with exceptional talents for developing bizarre concepts,
concept art, composition, and 3D modeling. Collectively, we’ve been
building high quality 3D related content for many years.

There are also some pretty nice pictures to demon-strate what exactly they
can do. Get it? "Demon-strate"... yeah...

  • Who Will You Play As?
    MMORPGDot.com
found all nine available character classes on The Chronicle of Spellborn's Official
    Site!

At long last we are pleased to present to you the full lineup of classes
for The Chronicles of Spellborn. The classes have been divided into three
groups: Warriors, Spellcasters, and Rogues. Within the game, each character
must choose a group during creation, and this determines which of the following
three classes they may select from once they have gained some experience in
    the world.

Personally, I think the Freedancer sounds the best:

    Facedancer

These rogues are masters of changing their shape. The Facedancer makes for
an efficient and deadly assassin, and possesses a variety of melee as well
as ranged combat skills. They are also considered the most adept practitioners
    of the art of stealth.

    Oh yeah! Art of Stealth!

  • And without a "Thanks for all the fish!" even! I would say how rude but I fired it up and then promptly quit myself. Wired has a fabulous article on the mass exodus of players within the SWG Universe. No longer is it the complex challenging game that it used to be.

You should read it, it's good.

  • Arrgh! Oh wait, Awen already said that! Well, I'll double it and ask for a
    parrot!
    MMORPG.com has
developer journal #5 for Pirates of the Burning Sea. I wish I could be a pirate...
minus the grungy teeth thing and getting sea-sick. But a plumed hat would be
    cool... right?

Hello, everyone. My name's Raymond Wood, and I'm a mission designer
for Pirates of the Burning Sea. I joined Flying Lab earlier this year and
have been having a great time shouting "Arrrrr" at all my coworkers.
Normally, mission designers build PvE missions and combat encounters, but
recently I was lucky enough to lend my mission expertise to one of the coolest
    parts of the PvP system.
Our first design goal when we sat down to work out the details of the PvP
system can be summed up in one word: “Relevance.” Too many games
place PvP on the borders, as something that happens at the edge of the map
between players who aren’t necessarily tied in to the rest of the game.
Often, PvP takes place in areas that are wholly separated from the main geography
of the game. That isolation makes the player versus player struggles seem
less exciting to us, so our first decision was to place the PvP in places
players go, places they care about. In Pirates of the Burning Sea, the hottest
PvP areas will be right in the middle of the map, where players live and trade
    and do missions.
We’ve written about PvP port battles before as the centerpiece of our
four-sided RvR conflict system. Today, I’m pulling the curtains back
to show you how they actually work. Let’s say you’re a stout-hearted
English naval officer. Your forces have raided enough Spanish shipping to
put the port of San Juan into contention, and you’ve contributed enough
to win one of the 25 British tickets into the port battle. (The battle works
the same way when pirates raid foreign ports or when nationals suppress pirate
ports, but the rewards and the effects on the port are different.)

has a short and sweet bit on Lord of the Rings Online from LotroSource.

KhazadDum081389: Will any race or profession be able to tame a pet (like
a ranger or an elf)? If so, what will be the kinds of pets you can tame?
Chris Foster: Pets are definitely going to play a part in LOTRO. For specifics,
you'll have to wait for more information on classes.

  • Arrrgh Mateys! Get out the rum and take a seat for some easy reading! *delicate cough* Alright then.. Pirates of the Burning Sea put up two new developer logs late last week. You can see them Here. However, I'm going to spare your tired little eyes and tell you in a gunshell (get it.. gunshell) what they say.

    1. They've sent out the first wave of beta invites. Didn't get one? Yeah.. me either and I'm bitter. They're using the same build that they've sent investors. Let's hope it's good. I want to get my swashbuckling on.

    2. I realllly don't know what he's talking about Here. It's about 20k Perforce check. Anyone's guess.

So in conclusion, I'd like to play this game. So should you.

  • Almost To Beta...

    MMORPGDot.com
got a glimpse of Aventurine's MMO Darkfall:

Darkfall is an interesting endeavor from Greek-based Aventurine, which brought
aboard the original Norwegian developers, Razorwax. Currently approaching
beta, it takes place in a world called Agon that will offer six diverse playable
races aligned in three groups. Humans, Dwarves and the elven Mirdain make
up one. Orks and the Mahirim wolf-men comprise another, while the Alfar are
    friendless pariahs.

Why is it that Elves, Humans and Dwarves are always in the same Alliance? If
it was me, I would choose Orks to be on my side. They are crazy mean!
