  • Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting

On a remote island, off the coast of Norrath, lies another world of Dragons, martial arts, and unusual culture. RadarX gets a peek at the upcoming adventure pack The Fallen Dynasty and giggles over pig racing.

"I have to admit, the Fallen Dynasty from a graphics standpoint, looks unbelievable. Moorgard tells me the same team that did the SOGA models (which yes I know some of you don’t like) designed the character models and helped with the zones. The village looks like something out of a Jet Li movie. From the traditional looking temple on the hill, to the junk floating on the edge of the dock, the detail is absolutely amazing."

Find out more about this EQ2 Adventure Pack that Tony "RadarX" Jones saw at E3 here.

  • Finding the Fae

Echoes of Faydwer is the exciting new expansion coming soon to EverQuest 2. RadarX gets an inside peek at E3 to see whats being worked on and the amazing content to come. He also asks for safety rails in the new "tree city."

"One of the most exciting aspects of Echoes of Faydwer, is the introduction of the new race, the Fae. The Fae have been in Faydwer for centuries according to Moorgard and will provide players an opportunity to start a new character. Having wonderfully colorful, butterfly like wings, they'll be the envy of every WoW player with mismatched armor. The Fae will be a neutral race, so I asked if there would be any class restrictions. Moorgard said no definitive decision had been made. I'm having a little trouble imagining a Fae in full plate armor though."

  • No More Patches?

Byron "Messiah" Mudry and Thurston "Ratboy" Hillman were able to find an oasis of comfort and excitment among the crush of media at the Simutronics booth when they went to check out Hero's Journey. Tired of maintenance patches and down time? Find out how Hero's Journey promises to do away with that...

Since Simutronics has created a Server System that allows for patches, updates, and the addition of new content to be added without downtime and seamlessly into the world, “Scheduled maintenance” will be a thing of the past. With the assistance of their GameMaster corps, all of which are developers in their own right, having the access to create new content at a whim, Hero’s Journey seems to almost run itself.

The class system of Hero’s Journey allows for 72 professions, yes that is right, 72 different class options. Ranging from the Artilerist all the way up to the more interesting profession of Mortician, Hero’s Journey is far from ‘dead’ when it comes to the class system.

Did they say 72 classes? Check out the full report on what they found at E3 while looking at Hero's Journey here.

  • The Little Engine That Might...

Tony "RadarX" Jones brings us a look at the E3 Demo of the soon to be released Dark and Light. Will the game meet expectations or will the load be too heavy to bear?

The boasts of Dark and Light sound like a MMO players dream. One server consisting of 15,000 square miles, 213 cities, player fortresses? What could be wrong with that? In my mind, I have to be a little worried about the player getting lost or being overwhelmed. I was told one of their 13 realms had a larger land size than EverQuest 1. That’s pretty freaking big, and watching him zoom out from the player to the world itself proved he wasn’t joking. They are living up to their claim of “largest MMO ever.”

  • Ryzom Ring Wins Over Messiah

Straight from the halls of E3 2006, Byron and his trusty sidekick Ratboy (aka Thurston) had the pleasure of interviewing Milko Berset, Director at Nevrax, on the current state and future prospects for Saga of Ryzom and their upcoming expansion, Ryzom Ring.

Today Ratboy and I went to investigate the upcoming add on the The Saga of Ryzom. While neither of us have had much exposure to the game in the past we started looking at it a few weeks ago in preparation for this interview. What struck us most was the world and storyline that has been developed to support the online world that has been created.

  • Action RPG meets FPS in Tabula Rasa

Thurston "Ratboy" Hillman turns in this report after taking time to demo NCSoft's military based MMO Tabula Rasa. Find out his tips on dodgeball and how to handle "walking tanks of death" and more!

Apparently the pistol was not the best choice of weaponry to start with, as it did minimal damage to the walking tank-thing of death that was approaching my base. Using the “q” key to switch weapons (it just seems wrong to me!), I frantically searched for a weapon to deal with the oncoming machine of death, and nothing presented itself better then trusty Shotty McShotgun. Sadly, alien tank-things are almost immune to every type of weapon that you carry around, so even my futuristic boomstick gained me no advantage, and only brought attention to me in the form of aggro, followed by streams of high explosive rockets. If you ever go out to play dodge ball, don’t do it with a scary rocket armed tank monster, just stick with your elementary school bully.

  • Kir Explains What Exactly Warhammer Online is...and more

Shiina "Kir" Liao turns in this intriguing look at Mythic Entertainment's Warhammer Online. Like most of us, she wasn't too clear on the background of the game and after talking to Jeremy Dale, Lead Animator of Mythic Entertainment, she is able to give us the basics!

Despite knowing a bit about the very deep and fascinating universe of Warhammer, I didn’t really know much about the actual game prior to heading in and asking for a tour to find out what it’s all about. Here’s a short description about what this game (newly in development) is, so you aren’t as clueless as I was to start. A good idea before moving onto the events that transpired.

  • MMO Design to the Masses

Jeff "Ethec" Woleslagle had time today to sit down with the team from Tulga's Horizons. He spoke with Jason Murdick who is Lead Content Designer for Tulga Games.

We spoke with Jason Murdick, a key player in the just-announced “Settlements” expansion for Tulga’s Horizons: Empire of Istaria. Murdick, a Lead Content Designer at Tulga Games, began working on Horizons four months before the game went live in 2003 (interestingly, in an industry rife with turnover, Tulga’s 20-man team is composed primarily of folks from the original team).

  • Ratboy Runs Rampent in Auto Assault

Thurston "Ratboy" Hillman pulls himself away from the Booth Babes to check out the demo of Auto Assault at this year's E3. Finding out that he isn't as uber as he had hoped didn't dampen his spirit or opinion of this exciting game...

The introduction to the inventory of the game reminded me of an episode of “Pimp My Ride” with options down to different kinds of tires on the vehicles themselves. I think the saving grace in the whole scenario was the fact I’ve never once seen an episode of “Pimp my Ride”. Thankfully the good folks at NCsoft were more then willing to give us a good overview of the game and even proceeded to show us some of the more intricate parts of combat, such as the supposedly ‘important’ difference between forward and rear mounted weaponry. Once I found out how to shoot and aim, the rest of the game was a blur of experience points and inflicted damage, at least up until I was informed by the staff that when red numbers came up it meant I had taken damage. Apparently I wasn’t the ‘king of p0wning’ that I thought I was…

  • The Burning Crusades a Burning Hit?

Thurston "Ratboy" Hillman submits this report on Ten Ton Hammer's adventures at the Blizzard's World of Warcraft booth at E3.

The Burning Crusade was the other hot topic that Blizzard would be going into further detail about, at this E3. How does a company add another ten levels’ worth of content and not destroy all of the work that guilds have been spending months doing, in order to get high-level gear? Blizzard was about to fess up…
