  • The Official site has this new explanation of changes for the new PVP rule-set servers.

PvP Range While Grouped: The valid range to determine both who you can attack and who can attack you is now determined by the highest level member of the group or raid. Grouping with lower level players will no longer allow you to attack anyone who is normally in their range. Be warned though; grouping with higher level players will allow anyone who can normally attack them attack you as well. As before, there are no limitations to who you can attack as long as they are higher level or grouped with someone higher of a level.

  • Here's a good way to start the day! Gamecloud has an interview with CME's Chris Klug What are they talking about? Duh! Stargate Worlds!

Gamecloud - First, why did the development team decided to pick a licenced property like Stargate for their first game, rather than develop an original IP for their MMORPG?

Chris Klug - The founders are big fans of Stargate and also it takes less time to develop a game based on a license than a game based on original IP. And you have to make sure that the new IP is any good. Stargate also gives us credibility.

  • I'm still laughing. I have tears I do. Developer Diary: Allan "Orion" Maki - Friends Don't Let Friends Tank Balrogs The name should speak volumes of the humor in this piece. However, that's not what started me laughing. It's the picture of Will with his cow bell smack at the top. You gotta love a man who appreciates the need for more cow bell.

So you want to know something about The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™. Excellent! If only I could deliver all of the juicy information which you seek! How wondrous would the outpouring of gratitude be, and how greater still the rancor that followed, as shortcomings and disagreements were debated until the coming of the Last Battle!

(Translation: before I was a developer, I was an MMO fan first, then an Online Community Rep. Be nice to Patience!)

If I could do that I would, but I cannot. NobOrBob and his Balrog, Snuggles, keep our darkest secrets, er, secret. What I can do, however, is give you a glimpse of LOTRO from a great height, as if borne by a Great Eagle.

  • Gamecloud has an interview with brand manager Ken Chan While I read this interview I can't help but hum "Back in the saddle again".

Gamecloud - Why was the decision made to make the new Acclaim a place to publish Asian themed multiplayer games in the US?

Ken Chan - These games are enjoying hugre sucess in Asia right now. We wanted to bring them to the US market. We are not focusing on Asian themed games per se. The 9Dragons game we have planned is indeed an MMORPG based on Asian themes, however, that is the extent of our Asian themed games thus far.

I hate to burst their new found bubble but eh.. Asian themed games aren't the most successful in the US right now.
