  • Awen (that would be me) writes about the newly made accusations of prejudice against the Chinese in WoW.

Are all gold farmers Chinese? The answer to this question is absolutely not. However, the proof of Asian gold farmers is greater simply due to the fact that the Asian governments are cracking down on this market. Publicity causes awareness within the community. People who have had bad experiences because of these farmers begin to associate the Asian people with this trade. It's easier to point fingers at people who you have proof of doing the deed rather than an anonymous entity that exists right in your own back yard. Does this mean that all gamers have an instant dislike for the Asians or feel that they are all gold farmers? I think not.

Is it just me or could this all be a lack of communication? Read It Here

  • Morton Byom, Anarchy Online's Game Director gave an update on the progress of AO's expansion Lost Eden.

I bring you good news and ‘not-so-good’ news depending on your point of view. Let’s get the ‘not–so-good’ out of the way first. We have decided to change the release date for Lost Eden. Whilst initially we planned to release early this year we have decided to push it back into later this year. We are not going to give an exact date, that will come later but today I wanted to address why we have decided to do this, because I firmly believe it’s the right decision for the game.

Read the rest of it here

Am I surprised by this announcement? Yeah.. I kind of am. I would think that they'd want to keep AO content fresh. It's a good game if a bit difficult.

  • NetDevil has posted an update on the Official Auto Assault Website. This update concerns the Hestia Back Range

Originally the area known as the Hestia Back Range was built for use as an outdoor military test facility. Located near Ark I, the Hestia Back Range sits in a rocky wide bowl, buttressed against a series of cliffs and mountains to the west and east, with the highway running down the valley in the middle. After using the area for as a testing ground for terrestrial and orbital weapons, the Frontier Location Command (FLC) moved a series of drone launch platforms into the Range - remote devices that proved to be a boon in training and recruit indoctrination. In fact, FLC routinely uses the Back Range as a basic training area for Hestia Company Candidates, where they can fully evaluate a recruit’s individual disciplines in real battle conditions before moving them on to Upside.

If you have the drive to check out this post apocalyptic game, take a look at our Auto Assault Website.

  • The TTH Dungeons & Dragons Site has a new article up about Death in the upcoming DDO: Stormreach.

Zed has experienced many an epic battle and at least one unexpected death in his adventures playing the pen-and-paper (PnP) Dungeons & Dragons. Now, he gives us an inside look at how death is handled in the PnP game, and how it’s being treated in Dungeons & Dragons Online.

“Whether it was players’ forgetfulness, boldness, stupidity, or who knows what… the result was a five man ‘total wipe’ as we know them in MMOGs. What killed them: A huge dragon; an army of trolls; a legion of undead; a mad necromancer? No, a gardener; a solitary bugbear gardener armed with a scythe.”

If you're like me and have never died *crosses fingers, eyes and toes at THAT lie* You may want to read it here

  • Think all MMO gamers demographically exist somewhere between college and kids?
You might be surprised, especially since the word veteran in "veteran gamer" doesn't usually refer to the 50-plus set! TTH's own Patrick "Troon" Connoy puts hands to keyboard to describe his introduction to and enjoyment of EverQuest 2. That is, as a proud member of a little-known (but steadily growing) gaming demographic!

MMO games are lots of fun, they’re entertaining and addictive, no matter what your age level is! In fact, SOE and the other publishers are probably missing out on a very large hidden market opportunity by not directly targeting us senior, or, in my case, “almost” senior citizens. We are a “massively” large group, with improvements in healthcare, growing larger in size every day. The AARP boasts 35 million paying members, more than the population of Australia or Canada. After retirement, we have more time on our hands than we know what to do with. We are always looking for ways to keep our minds sharp and trying to figure out these new fangled computers. And, best of all, all of our friends are dying off, so we need the social interaction that MMOG’s provide!!

Though we're still working on the large print edition, click here to check out the rest of this very engaging, tongue-in-cheek article!
