For time immemorial, people who wanted a World of Warcraft authenticator had two choices. They either had to buy a physical version or own an iDevice or one of a small number of smartphones that had an app version. Well now Blizzard has announced the Authenticator is now available on Windows 7 phones.

Security is a buzzword these days and it’s nice to see Blizzard isn’t being completely elitest by just designing apps for Apple devices. Personally, I’ve been using the app on my iPhone for years and it really is an essential piece of kit but you shouldn’t have to buy a phone just to keep your WoW account safe and there’s something rather antiquated about an actual physical device that costs actual money. So, if you’ve got a Windows 7 phone, head on over to the setup page to get more info.
