Auto Assault

First Impressions

by Thurston Hillman

So they need someone who will be able to go down to the NCsoft booth and try the demo for Auto Assault on display there… the only better thing I could do with my time would be stand by booth babes, but at least this was productive!

Having previously been involved with Auto Assault for months, starting when our illustrious leader “Ralph” decided to set up the TenTonHammer Auto Assault Community Site . I spent about two months working on setting up the site, posting in the boards, and getting things rolling before being moved over to my current home of Warhammer Online. Getting a chance to demo the game, I used to be a Community Manager for was definitely an excellent experience … so off I went!

Gaming

Messiah and I reached the NCsoft booth and found two available stations to test out Auto Assault. Sitting down, we started the game and were met by one of the dev team members who took us through a walkthrough of the game and interface by answering our burning questions. Suffice to say, Messiah and I had lots of questions, as we were both interested in the game.

The first thing that made itself evident was the speed of the game. No screenshot, movie, or raving lunatic preaching on the street could adequately show or describe the lightning-fast pace of the game. I sat down at a desk and immediately became involved in the quick combat and movement of the game, probably because the last person at the booth had left his own car in a pretty bad spot. I pulled my way through and was able to save the vehicle from the nasty running scavvies who dared threaten me and my sweet ride.
