No cute ghost wolf for you.

You may have heard about the recent excitement over the ability for World of Warcraft hunters to tame the Ghost Wolf in a lowbie Tauren questline, a feat which required a great deal of ingenuity and a few hundred gold worth of materials. Apparently, Blizzard announced that they were going to keep the functionality in the game and then quickly introduced a hotfix which reversed that position and made it untameable with no warning. The community is understandably upset, which you can see from this post on DrainingSouls.net:

First, why take the Ghost Wolf out of the game? It wasn’t overpowered, it didn’t unbalance the Hunter class. It just looked cool. That was it.

Second, if Blizz feels that the Ghost Wolf doesn’t fit well with the Hunter class, then why let anyone keep them? Need I mention that there are already undead pets in the game for Hunters to tame? (Wolf and Bear for instance)

Third, why do it in a stealth hotfix? There was absolutely ZERO notice on this. Did they think we wouldn’t find out?? Why not give us some warning so that Hunters who were preparing to get one could either speed things along or decide it wasn’t worth it? There were numerous comments from Hunters in the forum who had spent hundreds of gold getting the mats together, and now they just get screwed.

You can read the rest of the post and find links to more community responses right here, so check it out and then come back and discuss it. What do you think? Was it handled poorly? Does it matter? Should Blizz just allow ghost wolves as pets?
