Q:
Is there magic in Age of Conan? A: Yes. There is lots of magic available in the world of Hyboria. Links: Q: How does one cast spells in the game? A: Along with a fresh new approach to melee combat, Funcom is taking a new approach to spell casting as well. Players weave spells by activating their “spellweaving” ability. Links: Q: Are there any limitations to spellweaving? A: Yes. If you try to weave a spell that is too powerful for you, you can incur a curse or other negative side-effect. There is also a magical burden, or corruption. If one casts too much too often, they reach their burden level. When that is done, the chances of incurring a negative side effect greatly increase. Links: Q: Does the magic system use mana at all? A: Yes. A mana pool is similar a character’s health bar. Every spell costs mana to cast. You can regenerate your mana over time, to refill the pool. Links: Q: What about summoning pets? A: Some classes can summon minions to assist them in battle. There is also something called a “summoning circle” which entails several spellcasters in a formation using their combined magic arts to summon special creatures which could never be done by a single caster.
