Thank you to Phil "Ralphedelominius" Comeau who looked after the daily festivities of Loading... yesterday. He's a funny guy, but I'm back and you're stuck with me.
It's an early, albeit distracted start for me today as Canada takes on Italy in Olympic hockey. We always seem to start big tournaments with a clunker of a game which is good news for Italy. The good sportsmanship award has to go to the Norweigian ski official who when he noticed that a Canadian skiier had broken her pole, gave her a new one even though it meant Canada would end up with a medal and Norway would end up in fourth position.
Blizzard concluded their classy handlling of the "Gay Guild" issue I wrote about in my February 7th, Loading... with an apology to the offended individual. I'd like an apology from her and from InWeekly, the online magazine that sensationalized the story for making a mountain out of a molehill. It took over 14 months for anyone to find a problem with Blizzard's policy before it became the issue of the week. I'd like an apology for ruining my gameplay experience every time they advertise their guild, which inevitably results in the chat window being filled with so much drivel that it becomes completely useless as a communication medium.
The headlines that followed the apology claimed a victory for gay rights and that Blizzard was wrong. Nonsense. This wasn't a victory for gay rights. My conversations with numerous gay individuals who both play World of Warcraft and who haven't even heard of it were unanimous in their feelings that it was more of a publicity stunt for the woman involved than a gay rights issue. Let's call a spade a spade. This was a traffic victory for the magazine that made the story into a big deal and a publicity victory for the woman who caused the problem in the first place.

"Yup, that's right, we're looking for help. Not the men with white jackets help, but the kind of help only the fans of Vanguard Saga of Heroes can provide! We are looking for a few more writers to join our team and help us continue to bring the best of all things Vanguard to the gaming community."
  • Vanguard: Who's Who?

"We've updated our staff bio section, so stop on by and learn a bit about those that spend their time bringing you the best of all things

With detailed maps,  and a description of each island you'll be more than ready to go when this expansion becomes available."

Now on to the real world. You can't make this stuff up.

As always, thanks for visiting,
