3.3 Loatheb (Naxxramas)

Table of Contents

Introduction

Loatheb is an anagram for “Healbot”. That’s pretty much what this fight breaks down to, being extremely careful with your healing. Loatheb isn’t the strongest when it comes to attack power but he does have one very unique special ability: the ability to only allow one heal per minute. This means that massive amounts of consumables and smart healing are needed to get past this epic encounter.

Set-Up!

Everyone will need at least three Greater Shadow Protection Potions, tons of bandages, Major Healing Potions, tubers (gotten from Felwood), and anything else to increase their HP/survivability this fight. Setup a main-tank group to provide the best possible passive auras/abilities to ensure the tank has tons of extra buffs. He’ll most then likely need a Flask of the Titans as well. Work out a “healing rotation” between healers so that no one overlaps a heal on the main-tank.

Skills

Corrupted Mind: Allows you to cast one healing spell (includes shields, HoT’s, and pretty much everything that prevents damage) per minute. Applied to everyone in the raid.

Poison Aura: Everyone close to him is hit for 200ish Nature Damage every six seconds for twelve seconds.

Inevitable Doom: After 2 minutes into the fight Loatheb will begin casting Inevitable Doom. Afterwards, every 30 seconds until the five minute mark he will recast it. At the five minute mark he speeds it up to every 15 seconds. It deals 2550 shadow damage after 10 seconds. This is applied to everyone in the raid and can not be removed or resisted.

Fungal Blooms: 50% Melee/Spell Casting Critical Chance Increase along with removing threat generation. Lasts 90 seconds and only five people can have it at a time. It’s gotten from killing spores that spawn a Fungal Bloom environmental effect.

Tactics

Poison Cleanse Totems/Judgement of Light needs to be around/up on Loatheb at all times. Rotate groups for Fungal Bloom. Have your healers work in an efficient healer rotation while everyone in the raid attempts to manage their own health. He doesn’t have anything special tank/tactics wise past just staying alive and surviving his Corrupted Mind. Be sure that you have worked out a way to keep healing going on the main-tank!

Healers should never heal anyone but the main-tank. That’s why everyone NEEDS bandages/potions/etc. to keep alive. If you can keep everyone alive then this fight should go well, but it does depend on A LOT of consumables. Be sure everyone brings extras for extra attempts.
