Podcasts are appearing everywhere. In fact, I'm listening to the PCGamer Podcast as I write this column. For those of you who are still confused about this new type of media I'll do my best to explain what it is and where you can get your ears on it.
Wikipedia describes podcasting as follows,

"A podcast is a web feed of audio or video files placed on the Internet for anyone to download or subscribe to, and also the content of that feed. Podcasters' websites also may offer direct download of their files, but the subscription feed of automatically delivered new content is what distinguishes a podcast from a simple download or real-time streaming (see below). Usually, the podcast features one type of "show" with new episodes either sporadically or at planned intervals such as daily, weekly, etc. Besides that there are podcast networks that feature multiple shows on the same feed.

Podcasting's essence is about creating content (audio or video) for an audience that wants to listen when they want, where they want, and how they want."

Instead of reading while you drive to work, which is a dangerous albeit spicey passtime, you can listen to audio shows letting your eyes stay on the road. You can also listen to podcasts while you are doing other things. In its most basic form it is a web delivered radio show. What is fantastic is that you can listen when you want and where you want. New shows are automatically sent to your computer, iPod or other device when they are posted by the author.
Ten Ton Hammer is working on podcast for the MMOG community. There are a couple of MMOG related podcasts out there, but I have yet to find one that a) resembles our format or b) delivers a MMOG industry focus.
We hope to have our first episode out next week. Here are a few shows to check out that will get your podcast ears wet.

Included in this update is information on the High Elves, the Dwarves, and the Humans of the Empire.
