First E3, now this?

GamesIndustry.biz is suggesting that next year's GDC might be press-only and invite-only.

The Game Developers Conference could be moving to an invite-only model for press in 2009, director Jamil Moledina has said.

Speaking to Kotaku, Moledina said that the event needs to cut down on those abusing the free entry granted to members of the press.

"We don't have it nailed down, but we are looking at moving to an invite model for press access at GDC," said Moledina.

"It's meant to be a networking event for people who make games, but more and more we are seeing a lot of individuals who are obtaining press credentials who aren't full-time press. It's kind of open to being spoofed, in a way," he added.
