Ten Ton Hammer's Warhammer Online Guild of the Month

January's Guild - SCORN

So there you are. Just made up your character and he/she looks cool. DAMN cool. You can't wait to get out there and play and level up! Oddly enough though, you start to find that the game gets boring for some reason. You log in and you're all alone, soloing or putting up with cheesy pick up groups just to get into some of the higher end content. You thought there would be more to Warhammer Online than just questing, ganking, and getting loot. This is where guilds come in. Guilds have many functions in MMOG's. They're a way to see higher level content. They're a means to get a chance at gear that you may not have ever seen othrwise. Most importantly, a good guild will become your online family. Full of friends you can't wait to jump online with and tackle the challenges of your game of choice.

We here at Ten Ton Hammer realize the importance of guilds in the world of MMOG's. That's why we're featuring a different Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning guild each month to give you a chance to get to know the different guilds of WAR and possibly help you find a group of like minded folks to make your gaming experience that much better.

This month, we introduce the hardcore raiding group, SCORN!

What kind of guild is SCORN and what are they all about?

Our mission is to be at the forefront of all end-game content, in whatever form Mythic challenges us in. We will strive to share our time between PvE content, and RvR, as well as forming Alliances for large scale battles. We require our members to be active, mature, experienced, and well-spoken. Scorn is strongly against any form of "griefing". We recognize that despite the fact that Order is our enemy, they're also other people playing a game that deserve respect just as much as we do.

We will be rolling on a 'Core' rule set server, we are based in North America (EST) and will be fighting for the hordes of Destruction. Raiding Mon/Tue/Thu/Sat/Sun from 7pm-12am.

What other games have you been involved in and what sort of success have you seen in those games? What are the goals of SCORN in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning?

Scorn's members have been involved in a variety of past MMORPGs but the guild itself was formed for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. The majority of the members come from either years of Dark Age of Camelot or over three years of World of Warcraft. We also have members with years of experience in Lineage 2, Final Fantasy XI, Star Wars Galaxies, and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes! We are a motley crew that has basically come from all over the MMO universe to form a tight knit, committed, loyal group of friends and we have all been a part of guilds in those past games that progressed extremely well in said games.

Our continuing goals in-game are simple. Complete all of the end-game content, in what ever form Mythic challenges us in. We will strive to be at the top of our server, but it's not one of our main priorities. We know through hard work and dedication we can complete our goals within the game and continue to grow as a guild.

What sort of time commitment are you looking for from members per week? Are there level requirements or restrictions for members?

In terms of time, we want our members to commit to at least once a day to reading our forums, but it would look great on their part to also post, and not just post, but contribute to conversations and topics on our forums. When the game goes live we would like our members to be on a 6:30 or 7:00 EST and stay on to 11:00, and some nights 12:00, for five nights a week to meet our raid schedule.

For level requirements there is currently is no level requirement (clearly) as we are all starting out fresh, but we plan to hit the ground running. Once we are progressing through end-game content and RvR, there will be a level requirement of 40 to join, because we are a guild of raiders and plan to have very few 'casual' status members, these are reserved for special cases.

As far as restrictions, it would come down to play times, skill, and age. Play times for the obvious reasons: making raids. Skill will be recognized when an applicant is brought to a few trial runs with the guild before being accepted into their Initiate status. And age is for the reason of availability, of both time and monetary investments. We need members who can dictate their own play times and should a problem arise with their computer, have the means to fix it.

What level of importance do you place on the social aspect of your guild? Is it all about the end goal or more about the people involved?

We place a high level of importance on the social aspect of our guild. We want people hopping on vent, logging in on the forums, and posting a lot while we're a pre-release guild. We like people to be on at the same times to accomplish goals in-game. We feel that our past track record speaks for itself as far as our forum community, and if we form a "brotherhood" to get to know everyone's play styles in and out, the end goals will come.

We believe our guild is it's members. So in a sense, it's more about the people involved. We are currently forming a united team, and will continue to grow as a family. With that said, should the goal of a night come down to needing to sub a player out for another class, it will be done, but participation will be split as fairly as possible otherwise.

If someone wanted to join your guild, what would be the best way to do so? Who should they get in contact with? Do they need to be a part of the Warhammer Online Beta test to apply or can they apply prior to release?

If somebody wanted to join our guild, the best way to do so would be to head over to our site and register on the forums. Read all our rules, making sure you agree with them, and to abide by them. After that, copy our application and follow the instructions on what we want you to do with the application. Fill it out in detail, making sure you let us know who you are, if you're not sure if you should add something, do it. (Remember, your application is the first interaction with the guild, so make it a good one!) If your application is successful we will schedule a Ventrilo interview. In this interview we will go over your application, seeing if we can get a good feel for what kind of person you are, and have a bit of fun conversation. Be prepared to talk!

About needing to be in the Warhammer Online Beta to apply, it is not required since being in beta doesn't make you any more worthy than anybody else applying. If that were the case, than we would have passed on many quality members we currently have.
