Ten Ton Hammer's Warhammer Online Guild of the Month

February's Guild - The Unholy Legions of Anti-Sanctus Chaotica

So there you are. Just made up your character and he/she looks cool. DAMN cool. You can't wait to get out there and play and level up! Oddly enough though, you start to find that the game gets boring for some reason. You log in and you're all alone, soloing or putting up with cheesy pick up groups just to get into some of the higher end content. You thought there would be more to Warhammer Online than just questing, ganking, and getting loot. This is where guilds come in. Guilds have many functions in MMOG's. They're a way to see higher level content. They're a means to get a chance at gear that you may not have ever seen othrwise. Most importantly, a good guild will become your online family, full of friends you can't wait to jump online with and tackle the challenges of your game of choice.

We here at Ten Ton Hammer realize the importance of guilds in the world of MMOG's. That's why we're featuring a different Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning guild each month to give you a chance to get to know the different guilds of WAR and possibly help you find a group of like minded folks to make your gaming experience that much better.

This month, we introduce The Unholy Legions of Anti-Sanctus Chaotica!

What kind of guild is The Unholy Legions of Anti-Sanctus Chaotica and what are they all about?

Kutulu, Dark Lord:

We encourage and support mastery of PvP and RvR. We encourage and support RP.  We do not want to pwn you for realm points.  We want to crush your soul and take over your keep, because your fear tastes yummy!

Our website is a hub of constant communication and activity.  We use web-site chat, forums, voip, galleries and anything we can think of to unite our members.  We have an efficient and functional organizational design, and our officers are all very strong and capable in their respective roles.

For a Destruction regiment, we are a very Creative community.  We want to use WAR and the lore of Anti-Sanctus Chaotica to inspire stories, videos, illustrations and songs... and nightmares.  We are also into crafts.  We hang stunties with rope woven from their own ripped out beards.  We even make necklaces using barbed wire and high elven ears.

What can Organized Chaos and Creative Destruction do for you?

Shadddow, Dread General:

We are a PvP focussed guild with a RP orientation. Killing is our main priority along with having a good time, these come above anything else. What are well about? Planning + Patience + Persistence + Prudence = POWER!!!

Malkaris, Corrupter of Ways:

The Unholy Legions of Anti-Sanctus Chaotica is not a guild in the old medieval sense of the word. We do not gather in common labor to produce some wooden shoes and metal tools. We are more than that. We are a player association. We are a community of online-friends who gather in anticipation of what we hope to be a great MMO, Warhammer Online.

Our player association is one that uses the lore of the Warhammer universe along with creating our own, to enhance our commitment, loyalty, and over all fun factor. We don't believe that role playing and action are "mutually exclusive" Quite the opposite is true. We believe that it is much more fun to commit mass genocide because our lore compels us to rather than "red equals dead" seen in most games.

The Unholy Legions is about community, creativity, and fun. We are about wringing out high elves of all their precious bodily fluids, using stunties as footballs, and ravaging the locals in the name of Chaos.

What other games have you been involved in and what sort of success have you seen in those games? What are the goals of The Unholy Legions of Anti-Sanctus Chaotica in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning?

Shadddow, Dread General:

The ASC has been found in games such as L2, DoW, and assorted other projects. Individuals waiting on WAR can be found still engaging in said activities, all of which are very experienced and meet with success more than failure.

Our goals are simple, CRUSH, CONQUER, AND OTHERWISE DESTROY ORDER! Obviously having fun is just as important but that will not be hard what with the amazing community we have. With 200 members signed up with our old forums, 100 members signed up with our new forums, and with ~6 months left until release we will have a veritable army on opening day. You can expect to see us at the top of the guild charts fast.

Kutulu, Dark Lord:

Some friends and I formed what was originally just called The Unholy Legion back in 1996, while we were playing a text MUD called Clandestine. True to classic MUD form, players could chose an alignment that was Good, Neutral, or Evil and they could chose to be an ethos that was Lawful, Neutral or Chaotic. Rather than guilds, the game supported player "religions" for each of the 9 alignment/ethos combinations. My friends and I wanted to create an alliance between the Lawful, Neutral and Chaotic EVIL religions. This gave us greater success in PvP against the GOOD aligned players. Over time, we developed a community built around successful PvP and melodramatic EVIL role-playing.  The guild has also been on random places like Guild Wars, Lineage II and Rubies of Eventide.

Very shortly after Mythic began development of Warhammer Online, the Unholy Legion became a WAR only guild. We lengthened our name to The Unholy Legions of Anti-Sanctus Chaotica, we changed our organizational structure, and we wrote a lengthy and creative back story, explaining our guild's history within the fabulous lore and mythology of the Warhammer world.

Malkaris, Corrupter of Ways:

The Unholy Legions seeks out the utter torment, destruction, and submission of all those around us. I am certain we will be very active on the PvP scene as well as the PvE scene. We drive ourselves to be the utter best in all we do. We will not sacrifice fun in the process. So we will be sure to have fun as we whack Order as well as mobs.

What sort of time commitment are you looking for from members per week? Are there level requirements or restrictions for members?

Malkaris, Corrupter of Ways:

We understand that not all members are able to commit 32 hours a day to the game. Personally speaking, while a member, I have only about 10 to 15 hours a week I am able to commit before the wife gets the pitch fork. So, we all have lives, and WAR is just a part of it.

One of the important things I would want to stress is that we are all about community. There is a multi-step process for becoming a member of the Unholy Legions. First is that you must come by and say "hi". We want to get to know you by filling out a few short questions. Then when several "officers" within the regiment like what they are seeing we grant you admittance. However, the indoctrination process doesn't stop there. Once you are given membership you will also be introduced to your Mentor.

The idea of the Mentorship is to help you to get to know us better. We help our new members with the regiment's lore, getting used to our community, and over all making them feel like they are apart of something. We do everything we can to ensure people are lost in the shuffle or the cracks of... dwarves I suppose.

Shadddow, Dread General:

Unlike some, we are not an elitist guild. Yes of course we have some elitist members but we also have members who aren't actually planning to play WAR but instead spend their time on our website with the RP aspect, writing stories and talking with other people in our community. Thus the true minimum of commitment that we have, as any guild should have, is that if we accept you into our ranks, that you in turn put some thought and effort back into the guild. It is completely understandable that people will have different capabilities when it comes to this, and we honor those who pop in to say "Hi!" once a week to those who actively post Youtube ASC propaganda!

There will be absolutely no level restraints for members. To restrain guild size, rank, or level is to restrict the guild's overall potential. As our fearless leader Kutulu states time and time again; "Everyone has their use." But not only does everyone bring a little something to the guild, but a guild is comprised of a complete range of members there will forever be something to do and someone to talk to!

What level of importance do you place on the social aspect of your guild? Is The Unholy Legions of Anti-Sanctus Chaotica all about the end goal or more about the people involved?

Malkaris, Corrupter of Ways:

I am rather biased in this question, as being the community manager of Anti-Sanctus Chaotica. The most important thing in MMOs are the communities and the people who make them up. If it weren't for people, MMOs would be single player games. As my position dictates, I place a lot of emphasis on our community. However, there is this "natural" spark of community that exists within our regiment long before I arrived. It is my job to help nurture this spark and continue its growth.

The Unholy Legions, I would say, sees no difference between the end goal and the people involved. If people are committed and desires to crush all those who oppose us, then so be it. We are only as strong as our community.

Shadddow, Dread General:

Personally I would argue that the social aspect of our guild is the singular most important aspect of the ASC. The main reason why I joined a year ago was because of the 40 odd members who were really insightful into the background of WAR and always roped me into interesting conversations. A year later and we've grown from 40 members to over 200 and everyday our ranks swell to larger numbers. In the ASC you can find individuals from the high school scene all the way to the married with children range. We are a very friendly (when out of character) community based on the ideology of "the family". Thus we accept and support all age groups and occupations because truly we already have a wide range. On top of this we also are not biased towards individuals outside of the United States. Currently we have more members than I can count who reside in countries across the world that I can't even spell. Recently we've had a surge of late night individuals who will be playing outside of "prime hours" who will be joining not only these foreigners but also our crazy members who will be playing all hours of the day. The ASC is a 24/7 guild, and we will ALWAYS be seen on the front lines helping our realm. It is in this that the end goal is intertwined into our community because we will always be working towards it like vicious animals. As a guild we are fun and friendly, in game we will bring NO MERCY.

If someone wanted to join your guild, what would be the best way to do so? Who should they get in contact with? Do they need to be a part of the Warhammer Online Beta test to apply or can they apply prior to release?

Malkaris, Corrupter of Ways:

The best way for someone to join our regiment is by stopping by our website http://theunholylegion.org .  When you drop off your application, keep in mind we are looking for something special about you. We like applicants who show they can apply themselves. A person who shows up that is quick witted during their interrogation process goes further than someone who stammers!

Shadddow, Dread General:

The best way to check us out would be to follow this URL: http://theunholylegion.org
Drop an application and also post an application in our application thread so not only can the Dark Lords view it but the officers can read over it as well. You do NOT need to be part of beta to join us. Although we do have a decent user base who is in beta already and recruiting from there, we always welcome those who are slightly less fortunate.
