Summing It Up

I continue to be amazed at the progress EA Mythic is making with Warhammer Online. My initial concerns were that a strategic tabletop game wouldn't transition well to a first-person MMORPG, but I was clearly ignorant both of the depth of lore in the Warhammer license and of EA Mythic's drive to make an MMO with a robust RvR system that may make the strategic, epic nature of classic Warhammer come together of its own accord. The PvE was fun, I like what's being done with PQs, and the RvR is a blast. The only negative I experienced at this stage of the game is that I didn't have enough time to play. If EA Mythic continues on this course and delivers everything they're talking about in a well integrated package... well, I'm not ready to hazard predictions yet. But with Blizzard and World of Warcraft placing increasing emphasis on PvP through new servers and rule changes, it might be interesting to see if Blizzard's delivering its community EA Mythic's doorstep. 2007 is shaping up to be a very interesting year in the MMORPG industry.
