There's a Sucker Born
Every Minute--Make Sure it's not You!

Scams in World of Warcraft are plentiful and commonplace these days.
And scamming can hurt, whether you're duped by websites that fish for
your personal
information and install keyloggers, or powerleveling services that
steal
your account, or even just people who overprice items in the Auction
House. With this guide, you'll be able to identify and avoid the most
common sorts of scams,
and even possibly turn around a bad situation that would otherwise put
a damper on your enjoyment of WoW.

Scamming is one of the oldest practices in World of
Warcraft, and it
has many different forms. Some scams are done to the player through the
in-game system, meaning Trade Channels or Auction House, some promise
'cheats' or other goodies if you visit certain sites, some are just
player-to-player trades that involve accounts, some want real
information out of you, all ending up with the purpose of having you
lose your gold, items, and possibly account, to the worst cases where
you also lose control of your PC and must format it.
