The Architecture of A World: Zoned or Seamless?

In what is becoming a Friday tradition at Vanguard @ Ten Ton Hammer, staff writer Mercurie has put some thoughts on virtual paper for us in what is being called Mercurial Thoughts. This week Mercurie looks at how MMO worlds are set up.

Speaking from my own admittedly limited experience, I must also say that I don’t care too much for traveling from zone to zone. In Dark Age of Camelot, going to different zones often means one’s character will have to make use of a portal. One enters the portal and suddenly one is in an entirely different region of the world. I’ve always found this a bit disconcerting myself...
