DDO Guide to Multiclassing Paladins

Posted Wed, Jun 07, 2006 by Ethec

Yes, Virginia...You can Multiclass a Paladin

And Save-vs-DM is here to show you the way.

In pen-and-paper Dungeons & Dragons paladins are unable to multiclass. In Dungeons & Dragons Online, with a few restrictions related to alignment, they're free to "play the field." But under what circumstances should a paladin multiclass? Which classes are compatible? What does a paladin gain (and lose) through multiclassing? Save-vs-DM's comprehensive guide answers these questions and more.

As a general rule of thumb, the larger the regular group of companions is, the less need you have to multiclass. Multiclassing often adds versatility rather than power to any given build, so most players will multiclass in order to gain versatility. If you regularly find yourself in a full group without any large gaps in party roles, you probably don’t have a need to multiclass (though there are exceptions to this rule, which I'll explain later).
