Arrogance, denial, a dubious union. Sounds like a trashy romance novel to me.

Okay, I know both these companies are one the edge of our universe, but they both have their hands (possibly) in upcoming projects that our community at large wants to see. EA is the parent company of Mythic Entertainment who is busily working away at Warhammer Online, and has also finally confirmed the KOTOR MMO. (KOTOR MMO... *squee!*) Take-Two Interactive, publishers of the popular Grand Theft Auto series, is rumored to be turning that very successful IP into an MMO, so they fit into our world that way.

As you may or may not have been aware, EA has been trying to buy Take-Two for a very long time now (just like EA does with everything it thinks is a threat). Normally, you'd expect some bargaining going on in a situation like this. Not the case here. EA has made their offer, first to the management, and then to the shareholders when management refused. Neither offer was accepted warmly. So, instead of trying to appeal to the owners and managers, EA just keeps extending their current offer. Again. And Again. And ad infinium. As you can imagine, it was another extension that prompted this article.

Once again, EA has extended its tender offer for outstanding shares of rival publisher Take-Two in its ongoing bid to acquire the company, with Take-Two noting that - despite the long string of extensions - only 15 percent of outstanding shares have been cashed in.

EA's previous extension put the deadline date to July 18th, and has now been extended an additional month to August 18th. The publisher says the extra time "allows the FTC review process to continue." EA said recently that it had reached a deal with the FTC to not conclude any acquisition before August 21st, but said a deal could be struck earlier if the FTC officially closes its investigation before then.

EA! Takeover, hostile or otherwise = FAIL. If you're still trying by Xmas, it will = EPIC FAIL.

There you go peoples, it's your fail meme of the day.
