With EA's announcement of the Knights of the Old Republic MMOG, many
gamers felt their pulse quicken and their eyes dilate. This was
the game many Star Wars fanatics had dreamed about, and it is finally
coming to pass. Yet many gamers still question certain aspects of the
game and how it could work as an MMOG. How could their be so many Jedi
running around in the universe? Will there be more than two Sith to
fight at any given time?

Thankfully, the future is much brighter than many people realize. In
this new editorial series, Ten Ton Hammer's Cody "Micajah" Bye explores the basics of
the Knights of the Old Republic backstory and what kind of universe
players will be exploring in this upcoming game. With his first
article, Cody jumps into the fray by discussing the one topic players
care about the most: the Jedi Knights.

style="font-style: italic;">The question that does remain is
whether or not Bioware will ask
players to “work” to make their characters into
full-blown Jedi. Almost
all of the Star Wars lore points directly at characters –
even the most
Force talented – requiring at least a bit of training in
order to
unlock their full potential. If Bioware opts to go this route, we may
see players opting to create a variety of different characters before
diving into the “Jedi” role. One particularly
interesting facet of Jedi
training Bioware might follow is the idea of style="font-style: italic;"

target="_blank">Jedi Masters and their Padawans style="font-style: italic;">.
Much like a "mentoring" system in other games, Bioware could definitely
use this system to help new characters attain higher ranks within the
game itself.
