A Vanguard Interview with Brad McQuaid

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes:

I Want My Secret Sauce!

by Nicole "Awenyddion" Hamlett
"There will never, ever, be Vanguard items on the Station exchange." Brad McQuaid stated emphatically. "Vanguard wasn't designed for that."

There has been an uproar over the Sigil / SOE deal that makes the two companies co-publishers of Sigil's new IP, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. If the station exchange possibility was something that you've been worried about, your fears can be assuaged right now. While the distributor has changed, the passion, design and plans for this game have not.

We were told that Sigil is very happy with SOE distributing their product. "We've been treated very well." Said Paul Luna. For something that happened so quickly, Sony has treated Sigil and Vanguard like AAA stars. The atmosphere is charged with excitement. Frankly, I'd be happy as well if I had Brad McQuaid and team back in my arena.

Today, myself, and Byron "Messiah" Mudry sat down with a few other of the affiliate sites for a demo by none other than Jeff Butler and Brad McQuaid. The beautifully executed demo showed this old fan a few new tricks.

The character creation of Vanguard has surpassed any released game. Jeff says that this is the best character creation he's ever seen in an MMO. As a long time gamer himself, I am apt to believe him. However, I did see this system up close and personal so I know first hand. The ability to change anything from ear tuck to cheekbone depth is truly phenomenal. This time around, this team wanted the players to be able to create their own original characters. No one character will ever look the same as another. This also applies to the game's NPC characters.
