| Cool, check this out! |
We also asked Tyren about gems providing bonuses based on which gems or which order they are socketed into a weapon (like rune words in Diablo). He stated that at this time it was not in the game. What has been included are blue colored gems that adapt their bonuses, based on the other gems in the socketed item.
Having spent almost an hour with Tyren we moved on to quickly cover Naxxramas and the patch 1.11 content.
As mentioned previously Naxxramas will be a winged dungeon. The most difficult part will be defeating Kel’Thuzad. To do this, players will need to progress through 4 encounters to unlock him, namely, a spider, banshee, abomination and one additional encounter. When asked if players might actually get to kill Kel’Thuzad, Tyren could not reveal how the story line was written. However, he did let slip that they have killed off bosses in the past and brought them back, such as Magtheridon coming back soon.
When asked about expansion of the base client past patch 1.11 before the Burning Crusade (in stores hopefully for Christmas), Tyren said that there are no plans for additional instances like Naxxramas. This could change though, based on time lines with the Burning Crusade. He did say that we will continue to see new content, although it will not be as big.
The last thing we asked about before letting Tyren run off to another interview, was about upcoming character transfers. Apparently, Blizzard has not finalized any plans for this yet, as they are still trying to work out the logistical details. They do not want to permit already-busy servers to become even more congested, or to allow servers with one faction with massive numbers to become even more one-sided. Once these issues are worked out to Blizzard’s satisfaction, they will release further details.
With that, we thanked Tyren for the time he spent with us and headed back to the media booth to turn in our report.
