Overview

Deep within a mountain overlooking the Enchanted Lands, surrounded by the mighty goblin forces lies the Runnyeye Citadel.  Among the horrid slime and filth of this stronghold lies unspeakable evil and untold adventure.    The goblin clan has built a massive army of minotaurs and specialized war boars to protect its lower levels from those seeking treasures within its dark halls.   A band of adventurers brave enough to fight their way through waves of such horrors to the heart of this fortress would be faced with even greater evils such as freakish Evil Eye's or even the Goblin's responsible for cooking whatever foul meals sustain them..   Perhaps even the bravest will venture into mighty Overlord Baylzuthak's throne room and combat the challenges he presents.

Minimum level:

There is no minimum level for this zone, but it is recommended for groups between the levels of 30 and 45.  This is as standard as a dungeon can get and was developed with pretty much groups in mind.  The entrance may provide a few solo targets of opportunity but you won't get very deep without encountering some Heroic groups.   The Overlord's Throneroom Instance at the very bottom of the zone is also designed for groups.   If you can get a group in there this zone provides great experience, loot, and a number of quests.   This is also one of the best known places to work on your Evil Eye Lore and Legend and Goblin Lore and Legend Quest.

NOTE:  The Overlord's Throneroom has an access quest called "The Secrets of Runnyeye" that is no longer required.

Zones Inside the Runnyeye Citadel:

  • Two additional instances lies within Runnyeye Citadel.  One is called "The Overlord's Throneroom."   This instance at 175, -228 is a series of locked rooms that are unlocked by defeating named creatures that spawn.  It ends with a final battle of Lord Baylzuthak himself.  The second is the Chamber of Rulgax at 179, 191which is another series of rooms that involve the deaths of many evil eyes and a final battle with a named Evil Eye Rulgax.

Quest Starters:

  • Collection quests:
    • Runneye Citadel provides the ability to work on numerous collection quests.  You should be able to start and complete them by examining the glowing "?" symbols found on the ground.  Check out the Ten Ton Hammer Collection Guide for more info.
  • Lore and Legend:
    • Lore and Legend - Evil Eye quest:  Collect this Lore and Legend book by looking convieniently in Runnyeye itself.  Not to deep in the zone at approximately -23, -56 you'll find a metal box that you can click to give you the book.  Read it to begin the quest.
    • Lore and Legend - Goblin:  Collect this Lore and Legend book by going to the Enchanted Lands.   In one of the houses next to the Western Gate at 281, -245 you will find a bookshelf that you can click to give you the book.  Read it to begin the quest.
  • Normal quests:
    • Goblin Rampage:  This quest is begun by examining a pot in Runneye Citadel at +50, -169 and requires you to kill 200 goblins within the zone.   Quest reward is a choice of chest pieces for each type of armor.
    • Evil-Eye Rampage: This Quest is begun by examining a dead evil-eye in Runneye Citadet at +187, +117.  Quest reward is a choice of leg armor for each type of armor
    • Claiming the Goblish Tongue:  This Quest is begun by a dropped  Goblin Territory Marker.  Examining will begin the quest.  Note you are unable to have more than one marker in your inventory at a time so examine them as soon as you recieve them.
    • Dead Man's Warning: This quest is begun by examining a skeleton near Fairy Dryisilia at -97, 70.   It will require you to kill an unspecified number of Evil Eyes until the quest updates.   The reward in addition to a little experience and money is the ability to utilize a teleportation area at the bottom of the zone that will send you back to the Enchanted Lands.
  • Access Quests
    • Secrets of Runneye:  This is an optional access quest as the access requirement has actually been removed from the instance.  This quest is begun by speaking to the Fairy Dryrisilia in Runneye at location -97, -70.

Heritage Quests Involving the Runnyeye Citadel:

  • Bone Bladed Claymore:  This Quest begins when you are level 40 in Stormhold.   At -150, -96 is a hanging sword which you will examine. The reward is the Bone Bladed Claymore or the Electrified Bone Bladed Claymore.   You will visit the anvil in Runnyeye at least once.

Soloing Opportunities:

Soloing Opportunities in this zone are very limited if non-exsistant.   Any soloing would be done against heroic encounters.

Grouping Opportunities

Around level 30-35:

  • With a group you should be able to get just past Bog Tower crossing taking out minotaurs and goblins along the way.  If you can get through the forge room into the clay puddle area the golems there will provide great experience and treasure drops.

Around level 35-39:

  • Your group should be able to delve much deeper into Runneye.   You should be able to move past the clay puddle and into Horguz the Hoarder's room for plenty of minotaurs to kill.  You might even be able to work your way down to the second level and begin to take on the Evil Eyes and some of the higher level goblins.  This would be a great time to start the Goblin and Evil Eye Rampage quests if you haven't yet.

Around level 40-45:

  • Your group should now be in the heart of Runneye and in fear of nothing.  Evil Eyes, the Goblin Chef,  the Forgemaster, and many others should have fallen to your blade.   This would also be a great time to try out the The Overlord's Throneroom and Chamber of Rulgax instances.
