Overview

Deep within the fiery mountains of Lavastorm, beyond numerous pools of liquid magma (use the Dr. Evil voice when you say that) lies a dungeon of epic proportion. Solusek's Eye is located in the farthest west corner of the Lavastorm zone which is quite a long and dangerous journey. Fortunately, there is a teleporter convieniently located right outside the dungeon which only requires a one time activation and will allow you to come straight from the docks.

The monsters in this dungeon will swarm on you like car salesmen so make sure to bring lots of friends. When I said Solusek's Eye is "of epic proportion" I'm not exaggerating. Taking up an unprecedented 8 levels, this dungeon is home to a number of important quests, and countless ways to die. One of the most important aspects in this dungeon however is your chance to meet the mighty Nagafen himself and try and solo him.

Disclaimer:  RadarX was just kidding.  Please do not try and solo Nagafen and blame him for it.  Instead ask a friend to do it and take lots of screenshots.

Minimum level:

There is no minimum level for this zone, but it is recommended for groups between the levels of 42 and 55.  This is a unusually built dungeon and was developed with almost all grouping in mind.  There are a few solo opportunities near the entrance but pickings are slim.

Zones Inside Solusek's Eye:

  • Lavastorm - You'll zone into Solusek's Eye from this zone

  • Bastion of Flames - Located on level 5, this instanced zone consists of an arena event and has an access quest called the Efreeti Bastion. It is required to finish the Golden Efreeti Boots Heritage Quest.

  • Oratorium of Thyr - There are two instances of this zone. One requires you to fight your way through a number of level 50 creatures and a named, the other is empty and can be ran through. If someone in the group has completed the instance with the creatures in it, everyone can utilize the empty one.

  • The Gong of Ro - The home of the Big Daddy himself, Nagafen. This ginormous dragon sits inside this instance glaring at you with his "I'm level 100" arrogance. I don't know how he got in here, or more importantly where he goes to the bathroom.

Quest Starters:

  • Collection quests:
    • Solusek's Eye provides the ability to work on numerous collection quests.  You should be able to start and complete them by examining the glowing "?" symbols found on the ground.  Check out the Ten Ton Hammer Collection Guide for more info.
  • Normal quests:
    • Deception:  This quest is begun by talking to Lord Nagafen who can be found in the instance using the Gong of Ro. You will need to speak the Dragon Language before you are able to get the quest. The reward is the wonderous prismatic weapons.
    • Dragon Language: This Quest is begun by speaking to the Sage of Ages in Maiden's Gulch off Lavastorm. A giant inside Nagafens lair will update your language quest.
    • Host of Thyr:  This is a 3 part quest that rewards you for each part. The reward for the last part is a choice of very nice legendary weapons.
  • Access Quests
    • The Bastion of Flame:  This instance has a small arena event. It is unique in that lava fills the room as each creature attacks. Any movement will kill you. Killing the last named in this instance will update the Golden Efreeti Boot Heritage Quest. The Access Quest itself requires you to get random drops off a number of different types of giants and is begun by examining a book at -117, +200 .

Heritage Quests Involving Solusek's Eye:

  • Saving Soles:  This Quest rewards you with the Golden Efreeti Boots. It is begun by talking to Charly Ashlash in Lavastorm. A creature inside the Bastion of Flames is required to complete this quest.
  • The Lost Legend of Lavastorm: This quest is begun by talking to Fendaris K'Lorn inside the building on the Lavastorm docks. A number of named giants must be killed inside Solusek's Eye in order to complete this quest.

Soloing Opportunities:

Soloing Opportunities in this zone are very limited if non-exsistant.   Any soloing would be done against heroic encounters or the few solo targets near the entrance..

Grouping Opportunities

Around level 42-45:

  • With a group, you should be able to take the Lava Crawlers and Quetzsols running around the first level which fortunately helps you out on the Host of Thyr Act 1 quest. You might be able to wander down to level 2 and even level 3 to kill some spirits and Efreeti but you won't get much farther than that.

Around level 46-50:

  • Your group will be able to make its way much deeper into Solusek. You should have started your Efreeti Bastion access quest by now and giants should be beaten down on a regular basis in addition to flame stalkers who should quiver at your uberness. Hunting in the lower levels will net some nice experience and fairly decent loot.  It isn't uncommon to see master chest drops in here.

Around level 51-55:

  • Your group owns this zone. There should be little if anything to stop you from going wherever you want. The Dragon Language should have been long started and Bastion of Flame access should be wrapping up. The experience will slow down but make sure you've completed all your quests. If you've exceeded level 55 then you're just not being challenged in this zone. Go to Deserts of Flame, or Tenebrous Tangel and stop lowballing.

Thanks for reading the Ten Ton Hammer EQ2 Solusek's Eye zone guide and don't forget to tip your Efreeti!
