Overview

The Bonemire is a bitter desolate place. A rocky wasteland, doomed to be forever shrouded in darkness, which is why this zone is also known as the "Realm of Night".  Accessible from Norrath via the teleportation spires in the Feerott and the Enchanted Lands, and from the sister realms of the Barren Sky and Tenebrous Tangle, the Bonemire is one of the 3 major zones brought to us by the Kingdom of Sky expansion pack.

This zone is made up of islands, hovering high above Norrath.  Each island holds its own wonders to be explored, and most are accessible via cloud stations from the hub of Bonemire, the Drednever Crash Site.  The islands that make up this zone are:

  • Isle of the Ravasect
  • Drednever Crash Site
  • Shattered Weir
  • Halls of Fate
  • Cacotoxic Stain
  • Carrion Briar

You'll definitely want to take some time, alone, or with some friends, and explore each one of these ominous isles!

Minimum Level

The Bonemire is geared for the 65-70 level set.  A good group in their early 60's could likely do okay here though.  I'm personally enjoying this zone at my current level of 66.  Both soloing and grouping options in this level range are great!

Zones Within the Bonemire

  • "The Halls of Fate" An upper 60's heroic instance, located in the center of the Bonemire (loc -2, -384, +30).  This is a rather tough zone, a solid group of upper 60's and level 70 players will be needed if you want to get too far in.

  • "Den of the Devourer" Another mid to upper 60's heroic instance, located on the isle of the Drednever Crash Site (loc +81, +94, +894)

  • "The Blackscale Sepulcher"  A upper 60's, 70 heroic instanced zone.  Located on the island Cacotoxic Stain(loc +104, +211, -647).

  • "Deathtoll"  An Epic instanced zone located on the Carrion Briar Island (loc -298, -74, -514).

Quests

  • Find Gingus:  This quest comes from the NPC, Brock Shrillburst (loc +8, +42, +544) at the Drednever Crash Site.  You are asked to find Assistant Technician Gingus, last seen heading southwest in search of a lost airship part (loc +286, +49, +575).  You'll want to talk to Gingus, then grab the lug that is next to him and return it back to Brock.  This quest opens up the following quest, "A Poisoned Gingus".  Reward: Brocks Thermal Shocker (a charm), Experience, and Faction.
  • A Poisoned Gingus:  Opened after completing the previous quest, this one is received when you hail the NPC, Elly Nerwick (loc +25, +43, +518), also located at the Drednever Cash Site, near Brock.  She asks you to gather venom of whatever has poisoned Gingus (loc +286, +49, +575), presumably the the wasteland strider spiders near where he lays.  Gather 8 strider venom sacs (by killing the spiders) and return them back to Elly.  Reward:  Experience and Faction
  • A Cured Gingus:  This quest is the 3rd and final in the "Gingus" series of quests.  Elly asks you to take the anti-venom back to Gingus so that he may be cured.  Hail Gingus, then escort him back to Elly.  You need to stay near him, this guy is super whiny and apparently dies if you leave his side.  Once he is back at the camp and with Elly, hail Elly for your reward!  Reward: Wrist or hand item, Experience, and Faction.
  • Bonemire Creature Study:  Weneb Tacklenogg (loc -29, +43, +524) sends you to catalog creatures around the Drednever Crash Site.  He asks for 12 Ashengaze spines from the Ashengaze Basilisks, and 12 legstalks from the Wasteland Striders.  Once you've gathered those, return to Weneb for your reward.  Reward: Exprience, Coin, and Faction.
  • Doomwing Digging:  Nepther'tum (loc -19, +43, +519), found at the Drednever Crash Site, asks you to investigate the Doomwing dig site, where you will examine a box (loc +103, +79, +623) and the Doomwing pit, (loc -192, +64, +753) where you will examine another chest. Return to Nepther'tum for the quest update.  Reward: Coin, Experience, and Faction.
  • The Taloned Vigil Infiltrators:  The quest is made available once the "Doomwing Digging" quest has been completed.  Given by Nepther'tum (loc -19, +43, +519), he asks you to find Yazid (loc -259, -341, -71) found on the Halls of Fate island, near the cloud station.  Yazid will then give you another quest that leads to the "Premonitions of Doom" quest .  Reward: Experience.
  • Fetid Harvest:  Dabner Drednever (loc -19, +43, +523) wishes for you to gather 16 Fetidthorn Spores, found through out the area, I found them all over the island, at the base of the trees.  Once you have collected them all, return to Dabner for quest update.  Reward:  Experience, Coin and Faction.
  • Information from the Droag:  On the Cacotoxic Island, NPC Aetryol Monsoon (loc +479, +242, -753) is found up on the mountainous edge of the isle.  To get to him, drop from the right side of the landing pad, and follow the path up the edge of the island.  He will give you a series of quests that will eventually reward you with a nice earring.  In this first one, he asks that you find the 2 tomes located in the droag towers.  They are in the towers closest to Aetryol.  Find the tomes, then take them back to Aetryol for your reward.  This will open up the two following quests.  Reward: Experience and Coin.
  • Flame of the Corpse Candle:  After completing the previous quest, Aetryol asks that you catalog a corpse candle for him.  To do this, you must sedate the corpse candle by bringing it a droag corpse to feed off of.  Both the droags and corpse candle are found on Cacotoxic Stain, but the droag that you slay, must be a live one, not one of the undead  (if you are running solo, you might wish to hop to another island to grab a non heroic droag for this quest).  Slaying a droag will place a corpse into your inventory, take this to a corpse candle and place it.  Once the corpse candle goes non aggro, catalog it for your update!  Then return to Aetryol for your reward.  Reward:  Experience and Coin.
  • Colony:  This quest comes from the NPC, Aetryol on Catotoxic Stain after completing the quest "Information from the Droag" and is the final quest in the 3 quest series from this NPC.  He asks that you bring him 8 ravasect eggs from the newly formed colony.  The colony is found in a underwater cave (loc +430, +198, -531).  Once inside, slay the eggbearers and then retrieve the eggs from the goo that drops onto the ground, then return to Aetryol for your reward.  Reward: (after completing all 3 quests) Experience, Coin, and your choice of ear item with varying stats and in combat regeneration effect.
  • A Mark of Awakening:  You receive this quest by hailing an Exiled Droag (loc -131, +78, +1060), found down the climbable wall on the south end of the island. You then need to complete a series of tasks, finally ending in an epic event.
    • He first asks you to find and read the Book of Sacrifice, found inside the Sanctum of the Scaleborn, going down the east side of the zone, on the upper level (loc -101, +66, -32).
    • Harvest a unhatched dragon egg, also found in the Sanctum (loc +82, +39, -166) in the same room as the Remnants of Spirit.  Return to the book and place the egg, then read the book again for the update.
    • You then need to find the Book of Power, found in the Palace of the Awakened.  Touch the book, then find the key to unlock it. The key is located on the first floor. In the first room on the left in one of the wings.
    • Find the Book of Trials, located within the Halls of Fate (loc -19,  +2,  -96). You need to find a skeleton to unlock it. This is located in the Sothis room, on the ledge over looking him.
    • You are then asked to complete 4 trials.  The last being a epic x4 raid instance.
      • 1st - Group trial, mid to upper 60s. Speed trial, must be done in 30minutes (I believe). Group invis and run to last room. Clear the room, which will cause a ring event. Clear the repops. Then a named will spawn. Kill him to get update.
      • 2nd - Group trial, mid to upper 60s. Endurance trial. Fight to last room (very short zone) Kill the mobs in the middle. They will keep spawning over and over (about 15ish waves) Till the nameds spawn. Kill to get update
      • 3rd - Solo trial, zone in and examine the statue to be transformed into a dragon. Then go on to kill everything which triggers a ring event in the middle (Just like the endurance one) Keep killing till the named spawns. Kill for update.
      • 4th - Raid Trial. 72 epicx4. Recommended all players 67+. Zone respawns……really fast. Need to keep moving and have good communication to avoid wipes.Fight down the first hallway to the circle room, you can rest in the middle of it. Go left (as the right door will be locked) travel all the way down and killed named. Go back to the middle and rest. The right door will now be open. Travel down the right path, clear everything and kill warden (named). After this it is recommended to wait for repops before taking the dragon (repops during fight = death). Dragon has GIANT aggro, you step into the room at all, you get him.
    • Huge thanks to Deludar Mofaka of Evolution on the Nektulos server for the above information on the "Mark of Awakening" quest. I'd offer to have his babies, but I don't know him, so that would be weird.

Solo Opportunities

One of my favorite things about the Kingdom of Sky expansion, is it's solo friendly content.  Not only are there tons of solo mobs and quests to choose from, but they also come in more varying degrees of difficulty.  I love being able to find the even con and ^ solo mobs all over the place.  I also did the majority of the above quests, solo.  They yield nice experience and a little bit of change for my slim pockets.

On any given island, you will be able to find such mobs; spiders, ravasect, droags, and much more.  My favorite spots were on the Drednever Crash Site, killing spiders and basilisks, on the Isle of the Ravasect slaying many a ravasect (all bugs must die!), and all over taking out the many droag that roam the islands.

Grouping Opportunities

So far, I've had some group fun slaying ravasects and droag.  The Halls of Fate is a great grouping zone, it's both challenging and rewarding.

I'd love to hear your favorite solo and grouping spots in the Bonemire!  Drop me a note and let me know where you just love to hunt.

I hope you've enjoyed my little walk through of this zone.  Please feel free to e-mail me with any additions or suggestions at any time, I love hearing from you!
