Live Update 24: The Players Speak

What do Some of Your Fellow Players Think?

By: Kiara

So. There's another Live Update coming up. From what I've read and the talk I've heard, this one is going to be pretty major. I have to admit that the only thing I've paid attention to with regards to the LU is the change made to the Betrayal quest. We can now betray at any level and as much as we feel like. This makes me a happy happy dark elf. Because let me tell you, Qeynos is giving me cavities at an alarming rate and I can't wait to get back to Freeport where I belong. Stupid Antonia. Pink armour indeed. Next thing you know, she'll be tying pink ribbons in my hair like she did to Coyote!

There are a lot of changes coming. Tradeskills, harvesting, "nerfs," etc. So. Since I know pretty much nothing about the changes upcoming (mostly cause the effect on my class isn't really life altering) but being the totally devoted type person that I am, I ran around and picked the brains of some folks to get some pre LU impressions. So without further ado, the thoughts (edited out for swearing and general oh noes the world is ending things) of some players I know who are actually going to be affected.

Overall Impressions

Before I started grilling my volunteers (okay, so I had them chained in the basement doing the Chinese water torture thing until they promised to spill their guts, but who's really keeping track?) I asked for some overall impressions of what the LU would bring.

Shipwreck - "All in all, I think it is good, because it makes the game harder. It's too damn easy. A lot of people are going to have to adapt. But mostly I'm okay with it. However, Enchanters and Warlocks are getting hardcore shafted."

Darammer - "Overall, seems the devs are trying to kill two birds with one stone: Fixing chanters utility and correcting an oversight they hadn't counted on where groups/raids can keep targets locked down indefinitely."

Kyriel - "The idea of a city that betrayers can access is a cool idea."

Priests and Fighters

Priests and Fighters are everyone's favourite people (if they aren't your favourite, just lie to me and let me keep my little illusions please). So naturally, I asked first about any major changes that my friend forsee for the tanks and the healie types.

Shipwreck - "Fighters - Not too bad. Stun nerfage a little inconvenient, especially to avoidance tanks who count on stuns to help damage spikes, but overall, they can adapt okay. Healers - Relatively little effect, shorter stuns will hurt soloability a bit and damage spikes will be tougher to get ahead of, especially on avoidance tanks. But we can adapt."

Yeah, only Ship really had anything to say. Everyone else just sort of rolled their eyes at me and told me to get over myself when I started worrying about my little Templar. I believe the words "So not about you!" were used more than once.
