"A Newbie's Guide to PVP Terms and Situations"

EQ2 Humor by Coyote

The Player Versus Player world is a much darker and deadlier place than we
“Bluebies” can ever imagine. Danger and death awaits behind every tree,
encounter, or harvesting node, and those who are not wary of their surroundings
soon find themselves quickly removed from them as they are sent screaming back
to their respawn points.

In effort to help you, the player, live a long and fruitful life on even the
most hostile and violent of the PVP servers, we’ve gathered (and in some places
created with the help of our Hetero Life Partner Shipwreck) a number of terms
and definitions for everyday occurrences that just might save your life.

..Or at the very least, help you understand why you just lost it.

Enjoy.

“Uncle Coyote’s Newbie Guide To PVP Terms and Situations”

Honor - Something only you have. If you are killed it is become some
honor less twink ganked you when you had your back turned. However, if you find
someone AFK, four levels below you and kill them, it was honorable because they
probably didn't have honor anyway.

Going Goose - While being chased by the enemy, the act of "ejecting"
from a Griffon in mid-flight and risking heavy falling damage. Named after the
character "Goose" in the movie "Top Gun" who ejected into the canopy and
died.

Ganked - You were killed in any fashion including death that is a
result of your own action. If you take it upon yourself to attack a red con
enemy eight levels above you while he is AFK and he comes back and wipes the
floor with you, saying that you got "ganked" absolves you from all
responsibility and makes you the victim.

Griefer - Anyone who kills you, even in self defense.

Cheap - Any action that you normally perform being performed by an
enemy player. I.E; If you run to the Gate Guards to avoid being killed, it is
"Survival", and a valid, clever action. If the enemy does the same it is
considered "cheap", and probably used because the enemy has no honor.

Coward - Anyone four levels or more below you that runs instead of
fighting. This can also be applied to anyone four levels or more above you who
attacks you. (Example; That coward attacked me because he is too afraid to fight
people his own level!)

Good Tactics - Being part of a group of five or more friends who get
together for the sole purpose of killing solo encounter enemies. "Dude, we took
him down! That was a GOOD tactic!"

Cheap Tactics - Getting killed while soloing by a group of five or
more enemies while you are alone. "Dude, they just took me down, what a cheap
tactic!"

Multipliers - The levels you add to the experience of your last kill
to make it seem like the fight was more epic than it was. Green cons white, blue
cons orange and white cons red. *Note* Multipliers can only be used if you are
alone while playing and broadcasting your victory to your friends via chat. *end
note*

Eager Beaver - Someone who is new to Player versus Player combat and
just wants to kill anyone that he can, regardless of alignment. He can often be
found challenging players on his own team to "PVP" in hopes of getting some
action. Can occasionally be seen in the /OOC channel asking questions like
"Anyone up for some PVP?"

Siberian Farmer - A player who goes to the most remote, hard to get
to, rarely populated part of the map in hopes of being able to harvest without
being killed.

Erudite Arnold - A low level character that is a second account alt
for a player on the "opposite" team. He will log in, sneak into HIS (the enemy)
zone, gather information, and then log out as the original player logs back in
and uses his newly ill-gotten information.

Noobius Maximus - A level 13 character who has 100AA's, full fabled
gear and you need a raid party of 12 or more level 20's just to take him
down.

Bait - A lower level, poorly equipped character who is used to attract
any enemy looking for an easy kill. When the would be killer approaches, a large
group of the bait's friends spring out of their hiding places and kills the
attacker, with luck - before he gets to the bait.

Master Bait - Like bait, he is there to attract the enemy, but has
taken off his "good" gear so that he seems much smaller and weaker than he truly
is. Also known as a "trap door baiter", but that isn't nearly as much fun to
say.

Raptor - An enemy who absolutely will not accept that the docks are a
"kill free zone". Like the Raptors in Jurassic Park they will constantly throw
themselves "against the fence" to test whether or not the rules have suddenly
changed.

HOLY SHIwwaaadd - The only transmission your guild receives after you
enter a zone amidst an entire full force raid party of the enemy.

PeePeeVP - Players who are on a PVP server but are absolutely
horrified at the thought of actually participating in PVP. At the first sign of
attack they will wet themselves while screaming and running to safety.

Lag-o-liers - A group member who is left behind during an attack as
you all run to safety. Like the Steven King story "The Langoliers", they get
left behind due to lag, (Or ninja-afk's, bios, etc, etc) and are never seen or
heard from again as they are devoured by the enemy.

White Knight - A character slightly higher in level who patrols the
newbie zones and makes them safe for lower level characters to adventure in
without being killed.

White Blight - A character slightly higher in level with no AA's,
horrible gear and a crappy connection who patrols the newbie zones in order to
make them safe for lower level characters but due to his own short comings, is
quickly beaten and robbed.

The Lone Zerg - The low level enemy who angrily returns moments after
his death in order to "try again". It doesn't matter that you've killed him a
dozen times, or that he is eight levels below you. With plucky determination and
annoying frequency he will continue to appear, and die, until you get bored and
move on in which he'll claim victory having "chased you away".

Griffin Fishing - Standing invisible next to the Griffin Towers and
waiting for low level characters to arrive so that you can gank them before they
take off or as soon as they land.

Surprise Party - The act of tip-toeing into a zone that you have
frequently hunted in, moving stealthily to your "secret harvesting spot" and
running smack dab into a full group of the enemy who were laying in wait to beat
the living tar out of you.

Tea-nied - Reviving after death as quickly as you can so that the
enemy has no chance to defile your corpse or turn you into their own personal
teacup for dipping their bag.
