Landing on the Island
large island to the far northeast of
Qalia looms and your ship lands, crunching
against the sandy shore. A sea crab scuttles out of your way as you
head towards the smoke of a campfire on the southwest tip of isle. You
are wary, these waters being
infested with the tautariens, a lizard race of fierce warriors and
shamans. The campfire is safe though, only 4 shipwrecked beings, one of
them a gnome vendor, huddled about the flames. As you come closer, the
Captain begins to pour out his tale of woes. You must help him, and the
other victims before your quest will end.
Captain Jourg wants you to find 15 barbed hooks. Easy enough, as they
are scattered all along the beach. With care, this can be accomplished
solo. Each of the shipwreck victims has quests for you. After you
collect the hooks, you will give them to Wendus, who in turn has a
quest. The hooks are made into barbed traps, which must then be set
into fish baskets that the tautariens keep in the rocks along the
cliffs. This is as dangerous as it sounds and a small group is
recommended. You must also slay at least 25 of the lizard people, all
level 18 3-dots or above.
Along the Way
are doing these tasks, you might as well help out the last shipwreck
victim, an archaelogist who needs help mapping the rock. You will visit
all the spots mentioned, and receive updates as you go. After you have
completed that task, she will then ask you to find some alcove
mushrooms. These are inside the rock and must be reached through a cave
entrance on the northside of the island. You will be fighting off mobs
of 3-4 brownies with social aggro for these mushrooms, so be careful!
Each quest offers a very nice weapon or armor reward, suitable for
level 18-20 of all classes. It's a worthwhile task, although
time-consuming. Fortunately the gnome vendor is there to provide you
with repairs or to purchase your trinkets.
The Final Reckoning
are a few more tasks to complete. You must map the inner sanctum of the
Rock, a very dangerous place. Hidden on the south side of the island is
the other entrance to the underground cavern. There you will find
sunken ships, strange bestiary and fierce foes. It is strongly
recommended that you bring a full group for this part. The mobs see
through invisibility, so there is no hope there. You must collect
ettercap mushrooms, krakenroots and slay many of the tautariens within.
And then you face the final challenge. You must destroy the Skawlra
Council and its Leader!
