Spare Parts

This quest is one of a
series of
quests that send you to the Gardens of Xia'Liu (commonly
just called "the Gardens" because no one wants to spell Xia'Liu). The
quest can be
started at level 12, and it is a great second quest to do in the series
because most of the mobs can be found right near the entrance to the
Gardens.

Spare Parts requires 3
tasks: loot 5
Silver Fox tails, 5 Tombo wings, and 5 Dancer hearts. The reward is
your choice of a pair of boots or a pair of gloves.

Logging the Quest

Refer to the href="http://vanguard.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=785">Gardens
of Xia'Liu: Overview for information on getting to the quest
givers
and the Gardens. Gazzit Bramble in Gulkar's Encampment begins the
quest.
Gazzit basically wants to cash in on the excitement and fear
surrounding the Gardens. He hopes you can bring him some pieces of
slain Gardens creatures that he can sell as trophies to the curious.

is below (click the picture for a larger version):

The Mobs

Once you have climbed the mountain path past all of the Clay Guardians
and Clay Sentinels you killed for Heart of Clay, you will enter the
Gardens proper. Two paths lie before you. To the left is a wall with an
opening guarded by two golems. Just right of that is a small pool of
water with a pair of Silverfox Whelps nearby. These are your first
kills. They are level 13 or 14 3dot mobs. Also check the water hole for
a Red Lily that spawns. This is for the Unusual Flowers quest.

After killing the first two mobs, head right, through the garden path.
You should bump into another Silverfox fairly quickly. You again see
two paths before you. Again on your left is a garden wall with an
opening guarded by 2 golems. Take that path. You should be able to find
and kill many Garden Dancers on this path. They are level 13 and 14
3dot wisps that cast spells. You will also bump into a Fox Hounder, a
4dot version of the Silverfoxes. Be on the lookout for more Red Lilies
in this room.

Once you have slaughtered all the mobs in that area, head back out and
take the path to the right again. You should see a Silverfox almost
immediately. Nearby, obscured by a bush is a Tombo Darter. Tombos are
dragonfly-looking insects that buzz annoyingly but do little else. The
Tombo and the Silverfox are likely to come together. You can kill them
and then a few more Tombos out in the water. But head back to the front
of the Gardens now.

This time, take the path to the left. Beware the Silverfox that roams
near the doorway. Another Silverfox and a Tombo are over at the nearby
pool of water. It is possible to pull them separately. A Red Lily also
spawns at this pool. Head up the path on the hill. You'll see a pagoda
with a pair of golems to your immediate right. This is for the Garden
Waters quest. The path in front of you on the right has some
Silverfoxes and other mobs milling about. The path in front of you on
the left heads down to the water.

Take the path in front of you on the right. You'll first bump into one
of the Yukionia. Killing her will check one off of your list for the At
the Root quest, and she might have one of the seeds you need for the
Pruning the Seeds quest. Head down the hill, slaying Silverfoxes and
being aware of the aggro plants nearby. They hide in the ground like
lumps of grass, but they spring up and attack when you draw near. At
least reapers can harvest them for cotton!

The lawn runs into a river and a bridge with a Red Lily or two nearby.
A pair of Tombo Darters are here. Kill them and step onto the bridge.
You'll have to kill another Yukionia, a Garden Dancer, and a plant
monster. Then you will find yourself looking at another garden wall
with golems. Kill them and move through.

You will find yourself on a little strip of land at the edge of the
water. This spot is crawling with mobs. To your right are some Tombos.
A killer plant is up to the left, and a Yukionia is pacing back and
forth. Look for another Red Lily here, too.

Kill the Yukionia and turn right to start clearing out Tombos. If you
leave the land and follow the water to the right, you can kill 3-4 more
Tombos. At the dead end is a 4dot version named Tranquil Tombo.

If you and your group don't have all of the drops you need by now, you
can retrace your steps. The mobs you killed on the way in should have
repopped. Pictures of the mobs and the drops are below.

Gazzit's Fortune

Return to Gazzit
Bramble in
Gulkar's Encampment. He will be very pleased with your haul. Below is

Choose Your Reward

Despite his greedy
nature, Gazzit
Bramble is willing to reward you for your efforts. You choices are a
pair of gloves woven with the Tombo wings or a pair of boots sewn with
the Silverfox tails.
