Gulgrethor Fortress

Gulgrethor Fortress is a massive tower carved into the mountains east of Wildgrowth Forest on Martok in Kojan. If the Gardens of Xia'Liu quests were a good introduction to grouping, Gulgrethor Fortress is a test of player skill and leadership. An unorganized group will have very little chance of success deep inside the fortress, and the many levels are laid out in a way that tests each role in the group (tanking, crowd control, healing, and damage).

The fortress is massive, so multiple groups can move through it at once. However, because it is so far away and tucked into an obscure area, few people are ever there. This is your chance to own a dungeon all to yourself. On the downside, don't expect any good Samaritans to save your bacon should you get in over your head.

This overview will show you how to find the fortress and where the quest NPCs are along with a brief description of each quest. The individual quest guides will show you how to find the mobs and items you need to complete the quests.

Finding Gulgrethor Fortress and the Quest NPCs

Many orcs and goblins will get their first quest to enter Gulgrethor Fortress from Warchief Zowb in Martok. If you need faction to safely enter Martok, travel one chunk north and slay low level Gulgrethor invaders to get yourself in good standing.

The fortress is located on the northern most island of the continent of Kojan (click here to see the Kojan map) in the chunk named Sundering Wastelands. A dock master can port you into the port of Martok, or you can use the Riftway located in Wildgrowth Forest. If orcs and goblins are KOS to you, consider approaching the fortress from the south. A Clan Martok encampment lies just west of the entrance to the fortress, and many of the soldiers there are level 40+ 6dots. If you have good faction with Clan Martok, there is a fetch quest you can get at this camp (Unusual Supplies) that yields a so-so piece of gear. You can't miss the fortress, as it is a tall structure that looks exactly like it should.

Agents Jargo, Nuraga, and Zyrax are located inside the fortress on a platform to the right once you have made it through the tunnel. To get to them, you will have to battle some Gulgrethor Death Knights to enter the cave leading to the fortress. In the tunnel, you will encounter Gulgrethorian Watchers. Once you exit the tunnel, head right. Be alert for Shinak Death Agents, which are invisible. You want your detection skill at max in here. Along the path to the agents, you will see some more Watchers, some Death Knights, some casters, Death Agents and some Torgazu Berserkers, giant beast that blast you two steps to the right. Be ready to strafe with your Q key, or they could knock you off a ledge or into more mobs! All the mobs in this area are level 15 3dots except for the Torgazu, which are level 16 4dots. The Death Knights and Torgazu stun. The Death Agents can stun more frequently if they are behind you.
