Fortress Quests

Inside the Tower

Don't be alarmed when you come up the ramp. You'll be staring right at four mobs standing guard against the wall in front of you. As long as you come up the ramp in the middle of it and stay against the wall when you enter the room, no one will attack. Pick a side. It doesn't matter which. Move to the corner to fight a Gulgrethor and his stealthed Shinak companion. Hug the wall and move toward the ramp on your side. You'll encounter the third mob on your side. At the ramp, you'll have to dispatch two more. Now you can move up to Map #5.

You'll face an Okami and his master on this level. Now head up the ramp to Map #6. If this floor looks familiar, it's because it is identical to the first floor inside the tower. The method for passing through this room is the same as before: Pick a side and move with caution.

The Orb of Command

Just like maps 4 & 6, you'll come into the room in a safe spot at the top of the ramp. You'll see mobs all around you. Just opposite the wall you're facing as you ascend the ramp, you'll see the Orb of Command and possibly Deathlord Vilonis himself. You see, Vilonis has now become a fiend similar to the harbingers who guarded the orbs of subjugation (from the Weak is Strong quest). It is more likely that you will see his harbinger than the Deathlord himself. Here is a map of the room:

The Harbinger of Vilonis uses life taps, so hit with burst damage or the fight will be a long one.

A Gulgrethor and a stealthed Shinak lie of either side of you. You'll have to go through one set of them to get to the orb. A Torgazu patrols the area in front of the orb. Try to time it so that you fight the two mobs in the corner first, and then pull the Torgazu when he roams close to you. On the other side of the partition near you is another pair of mobs (Gulgrethor and Shinak). Run around the wall--STAYING CLOSE TO IT--and take out those minor nuisances. You'll have one more small wall in front of you, somewhat farther in the room than the orb near the center. No mobs wait for you back there. In fact, that is a completely safe spot. Move there and ready yourself for the big showdown.

If the harbinger is up, he'll be flanked by two Gulgrethor and a Shinak wizard. When you pull any one of them, you'll get all 4. Good for you. Kill the wizard first to stop his AoE and burst damage. If you have two tanks (or a good Monk), the off-tank should take the hit from the two Gulgrethor while the main tank takes the hits from the Harbinger and the wizard. With the wizard down, take out the Gulgrethor before focusing on the Harbinger of Vilonis.

With the Harbinger dead, you can move to the orb and destroy it. Doing so frees a Fragmented Soul, which completes your quest. The Freed Fragmented Soul says you have freed all the trapped souls and bids you good luck in freeing the souls of even more enemies.

The Gulgrethor Army is now severely crippled, but your job is not done. If you don't kill Vilonis, he will muster the remaining forces and continue to be a thorn in your side. You must wait for Deathlord Vilonis to spawn and finish him.

Deathlord Vilonis

I have no clue what kind of spawn timer Deathlord Vilonis is on, so you'll just have to be patient and make good use of the top corners of the room, where you can camp if need be. My group killed the Harbinger 4 times in two days. After the second day of camping, the servers were reset for the patch for Game Update #3.1. When we logged in, Deathlord Vilonis was there.

When Vilonis is in the room, the Shinak wizard will not be with him. As before, the off-tank should try to get the two flanking Gulgrethor. Vilonis is a level 19 4dot with wicked serated scimitars. He hits hard--freaking hard. And sometimes his scimitars glow purple before he strikes. Don't be shocked if your tank's HP drops by about 50% when he does this move. The battle will be hard and somewhat long, but a good group around level 18 can make it. When you kill Vilonis, you can loot his arm and maybe a nice rare like the necklace we found:

Collect Your Reward

With Vilonis dead, you can return to Warchief Zowb in Martok for your reward. Zowb knows that Clan Martok will annihilate the Gulgrethor forces now that they have no leader. You may not feel the paltry coin is enough for your troubles, but you have helped decide the outcome of the war!
