Lone Lands Resource Gathering Guide

The Discerning Crafter : Lone Lands

Guide to Resource Gathering

By Darkgolem

The Lone Lands are, with a few noteworthy exceptions, a poor place to gather resources.  With limited amounts of ore and wood, there is not much to gather here if you are gathering resources.  However, the exceptions to resource gathering in the Lone Lands make it worth a second look.  First and foremost, there are tier 3 resources in large parts of this area.  Sturdy hides, yew wood, rich iron and gold are all found here, where in lower level areas, this is not the case.

The Lone Lands are the best place in Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) to find medium hides.  Hidden in the back areas of the Midgewater Pass are some wolves dens which yield medium hides, very quickly.  You can also find a large amount of naturally growing tier 2 and 3 crops in the Lone Lands, especially around Nain Enidh.  While not ideal if you have access to farming skills, you can gather enough crops to cook if you need to.  You can find a small amount of tier 2 and tier 3 scholar nodes here, but not an extensive amount.  Overall, however, most specialties will find the Lone Lands a place to avoid if you wish to gather resources for crafting or sale.  Simply put, it's a very inhospitable place.

Lone Lands MapAnnunlos: Ore is very hard to find in Annunlos.  You can get rich iron, and gold, but only in small amounts.  Crops found here include woad plant, raspberries. cabbages and green onions.  Skins can be found in moderation (medium), because of the boars here.  Ash wood is found here in small amounts.  Minal Eriol has a small number of broken urns (tier 2 artifacts)

Nain Eidnh:  Rich iron and gold can be found here, but spread far from each other.  You can find blueberries, cabbages, woad plants and raspberries here, in (for naturally growing crops) large amounts.  You will see sturdy hides here, mainly on scattered wargs.  Yew is found here, but scattered around and slow to gather.  In Nain Eidnh, Naerost (northern Nain Eidnh, east of Weathertop) has tier 3 nodes, in moderate amounts..  Amon Ros, just east of Ost Guruth, has no artifacts.  Ost Cyrn, south of Ost Guruth has tier 3 artifacts, but not many.

Talath Gaun: While not an outstanding place to gather ore, some rich iron and gold is found here.  You can find sturdy skins here, in fair amounts, from the wargs located in this area (there are also some boars near the last bridge).  Crops are middling.  There is not a lot to be found, mainly raspberries and cabbages.  Yew is available, scattered like it often is, but common enough to be worth looking for.  There are no artifacts found in Talath Gaun.

Harloeg:  Harloeg is a poor place to get gold and rich iron.  These resources are far from each other, though present  There are no skins nor crops in Harloeg.  You can find scattered yew in various places here.  There are no hides here.  Artifacts can be found in Harloeg, in the far south east corner, among the ruins near Ost Hoer.

Haragmar:  Full of undead and other beasts, Haragmar is a difficult place to gather resources from.  For ore, I suggest avoiding it all together, it has so little, it cannot be justified as a place to mine.  It has almost no yew, though you can rarely find some.  There are no hides to be found in Haragmar. There are artifacts found in the ruins east of Haragmar, among the wights found there.

The Weather Hills:  There can be found barrow iron and silver here, but in limited amounts.  You can get medium hides here in some amount from boars, but there are much, much better places in the Midgewater Pass.  Crops are surprisingly common here, yielding blueberries,  green onions and rhubarb.  There is some ash found here in small amounts.  Oddly, with the age and history of Weathertop you would imagine you would find artifacts here, but this is not the case, there are no artifacts at all in this area.

Gathering Skins at Midgewater PassMidgewater Pass:  Much like the Weather Hills, this area actually straddles the border between Bree-Land and the Lone Lands.  However, it is similar to the remainder of the Lone Lands in one respect, it is poor in mineral assets.  It is still better than most of the Lone Lands for ore.  Ash is found here scattered about, but not in quantity.  The Midgewater Pass area is most noteworthy for it's medium skins.  There are three wolves lairs here, each giving several medium skins.  This is the best medium skin harvesting area I have found in Lord of the Rings Online!  One note, however, there is a single quest which requires killing "Yellowfang Stalker" wolves, which are mainly found here, so courtesy towards those questing here would be needed, if your harvesting skins.  The lairs are located at 28.7S, 41.6W, 28.8S, 40.7W and 28.9S, 40.3W.  Searching this area for artifacts will give you nothing in returns.  Despite the many small bits of ruins here, all of them have been picked over completely and are bereft of artifacts.
