LotRO September 5th Weekly Forum Discussion Summary

By Darkgolem

The Forum Discussion Summary of the Lord of the Rings Online forums for this week talked a lot about the upcoming Mines of Moria expansion, understandably.  In addition, a nasty type of griefing was talked about, and some discussion of tiered raids.  The prices of vendors were mentioned, regarding how sensible (or not) these prices are, and there is a humorous post about a quest called "going to work" which was well received by the members of the LotRO Forums.  Read all about these and other subjects right here at the LotRO September 5th Weekly Forum Discussion Summary!

1.  Tiered Raids
"[20:37] <@Elm> *Urgamanix* After announcing only one 12-man raid for MoM, the raiding community got noticeably worried. Can you please clarify and expand on future plans for raiding, as information is thin on the ground
[20:37] <@OrionTurbine> One of the key additions or improvements coming to The Lord of the Rings Online with the Moria expansion is a better structure to our instances. This means that there will be more attention paid to the overall flow of instances.
[20:37] <@OrionTurbine> Now, what that means is we are attempting to form structure to our instances and raids in such a manner that they feed into one another.
[20:38] <@OrionTurbine> It has not always been the case that the instances preceding a raid were directly related in any form, in the future this will not be the case.

All this talk about instances "feeding into" other instances sounds interesting, yet it could upset a great deal of people if some content were "denied" to them because they were not in a "uber raiding kin" or whatnot. Granted this was sort of a general evasive dev answer, so who knows...
2.  Is there justification
"For the absurdly expensive prices that the NPC Vendors charge for Scholar Mats?
They by far outdistance the prices charges for other skill crafting materials.
I'm just wondering why this particular craft gets hosed so badly.
How many level 5-20's can afford to purchase the materials needed for potions, paints or dyes, without getting support from a much higher level alt?
The true selling prices on the AH (not the pie in the sky asking prices of some) do not seem to reflect the cost of..."

4.  Worst quest EVER!
"Soon I have to get ready for a really boring quest named "work."
I hate it. Low xp, only a little bit of silver. Ugh..."
5. A new form of harassment, and solution
"Today in Bree I came upon three 50th levels on horses, standing exactly on the horse stable fellow, and rotating in place. This made it impossible to take a horse anywhere. The fact that you can only have a couple tickets open at a time makes it impossible to report them all for harassment. However, in the spirit of full disclosure, this is something that should be nipped in the bud.

The easiest way to make it, at least, harder for these jerks to make one stand there waiting for the horse until they get bored, is to make the stable master collidable. This would make it much harder for them to block him from all angles. Or, make the horse tag above his head clickable for a horse, and that would work too.

This was not fun or pleasant. I don't have a lot of time to play in a day, and I don't need to deal with griefers. If I were.."
6.  The Big Moria Preview Thread
"I thought I would make a thread that I will update with all the previews and interviews that are available for Moria. This will make it easier for people to get info on the expansion and have one place to find it all. Previews, interviews, and dev chats are in chronological order in their respective categories.
