The folks over at Joystiq had an interesting tidbit of news today. It seems that they have heard that there were some layoffs over at Mythic, specifically in the Warhammer Online sector:

On Friday, January 16th, we heard through the tubes that layoffs had struck at EA's Mythic Entertainment, currently riding high acceptably with Warhammer Online. Here's what we were told: 21 customer service employees, half of QA and all of the playtest group were let go. We followed up with EA for a statement regarding the matter.

Looks like the times will hit even in a gaming giant like EA. If this is true, we hope those folks are speedily re-hired. You can read the entire thing here.
